Do you think apple IPhones will ever go the USBC rout?

Androids done it for years, you're able to plug nearly anything into an android phone.

I honestly wish I could go with android but I'm so used to apple that when I try android, it works but i'm not happy with it.

But apple does things I am totally against like this crap with the lightning cable that will probably go on for years.

I think in Europ they argued about the USBC stuf but it didn't go anyware, sadly apple is a huge company with tuns of money so they can pay their way out of anything as far as I know.

I am hoping they will on future iPhones. It's already available on some of the iPad pro models so I'm not sure why it has not been implemented into newer builds of the iPhone. USBC is so convenient and super fast for transferring data. I guess another factor is cost. The USBC ports cost more than lightening or traditional USB. Same reason why a lot of computers still come with regular USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports. It brings costs way down to use older forms of USB. I am hoping it will appear in a new model iPhone eventually though, but as your post mentioned, it may be awhile.

I'd would be surprised if they have any sockets for I/O on the phones in a few years.

After all, who needs all the wires any more? Bluetooth headphones and Airpods are becoming the norm. Charging can be done wirelessly these days. Phones are easier to make fully waterproof if there aren't any openings at all.

yes, it would be nice to easily add more memory and devices, but so many of devices these days are wireless or have wireless options. Also, Apple can make lots more money if they can charge for how much memory you want.

Here's an idea, a USBC port that connects wirelessly to your phone!

Not sure if Apple will add USB-C to iPhones, still the introduction of Apple wireless charging pad tells something. I read somewhere that EU regulations for 2021 will require phone and tablet makers to use some sort of universal charging cables which is in this case a USB-C port. I will not be surprised if Apple will go portless as a response!

I'll really really think about switching to android again.

If they go portlus, that means we'd need to buy a charger, more money for apple, have somewhere to put it and that's just sad.

I'll probably switch to android and be done with apple.

I've not tried the airpods but whired is good, so's bluetooth but getting rid of charging so they make the user pay more money? No thanks.

I'm actually all for portless. Remember the arguments of no headphone jack? Well, we're fine now. and this is the year of new tech. so let's give it a try. uSBC would be nice, but portless would IMHO be a lot better. It would probably make the cases look slick!

There'll be no headphones in the box, so you'd have to buy a pare of bluetooth headphones, not cheep, just to use your snazzy new IPhone. I mean the headphoens aren't there now but at least you can use a dongle and older apple headphones if you want to or any whired ones.

I'm still for it. I have a 130 dollar pair of headphones I use for iOs so and it works quite nicely.

I think there's a good possibility the lightning port might be replaced with USB-C. After all, it's already been done on the latest iPad Pro. But I think there needs to be a wired option for charging the device. For one thing, what about those of us who use a billfold case that prevents wireless charging? Also, as far as I know, wireless charging isn't as fast or as reliable as wired charging. For me, some form of wired charging is critical.

I give lightning a year or 2 more and then it'll all be magsafe. I thought when the iPads started going USB C that the iPhones would follow suit, but now that the iPhone 12s all have magsafe I think it's only a matter of time before that's all they'll use. And by then wireless charging will be faster so no need for a wired option.
