The answer is no there isn't a better head set if your relying on blue tooth. There will always be a latency with blue tooth and VoiceOver because of the protocol it uses. Simple solution is just to use a wired connection, but I realize that isn't very convenient. It's impossible to use text input through a blue tooth head set efficiently. This is also a reason why I am not a fan of everything going to a wireless connection.

I've been using Bose QuietComfort 35 (Series II) for a few years.
* It works great w/ VoiceOver w/o lag.

I also have a Bose Quiet Comfort 35 series II headset, and find that it works great. I can pair it with up to two devices, which for me is typically my PC and my iPhone, and I have no notable lag with JAWS on the PC or Voiceover on the iPhone. They also have incredible battery life. I use the for 8 hours a day as my primary headset for work and I have been able to get two days of work at least on a single charge.

My only complaint so far is that when used as a headset on the PC, there are some complications with sound configuration. Since this headset creates two audio profiles when connected to the PC - stereo and headset - some applications want to use one profile and other apps want to use the other. In my case, JAWS wanted to use the stereo profile, while Skype wanted to use the headset profile. The headset can only play from one profile at a time, so I ended up disabling the headset profile to force all apps to use the stereo profile. If you are only connecting them to your iphone though, you won't run into any trouble.

Yes, I use QC35-II for messages, emails, music, etc. I either use VoiceOver or one of the 3 digital assistants. There is virtually no lag (compared to even some of the better Bluetooth headsets) and quality is great.

There is absolutely lag with VoiceOver using Blue tooth on the QC35. Its because of the blue tooth protocol that causes the lag. If you use it in a wired configuration there is no latency. I will be honest with you and tell the truth since its a 350 dollar head set. I don't want you to spend the money and realize that there is still latency over Bluetooth. Absolutely an amazing head set for listening to music or in a wired configuration to hear screen readers.

Sure, you're gonna have lag on BT headsets, that's how it works. Now i've not tried them using iOS, but I recently got the skullcandy crusher wireless, and love these bad boys. For around $100 on amazon, they rock. Personally these are my fav headphones, and wouldn't't go with anything else.
