Hello.
I am not a really experienced braille user and mainly use it on windows and Linux, so my questions about braille on iOS were maybe already answered somewhere.
1. What is the best variant of braille table to use for typing on a display keyboard? 6 dot uncontracted or 8 dot uncontracted braille?
2. Is it possible to translate the word from contracted to uncontracted braille like you can do on Windows by pressing a routing button? I didn't find such option in settings. It would help me a lot in learning the contracted braille.
3. I noticed that while typing, the keyboard can easily type 1 letter many times and the typing speed is slow. Is it possible to do anything with that?
4. Sometimes moving between editing text can be a real pain because the focus moves really slow. I remember when I was editing a post on facebook, a cursor moved extremely slow. Is there anything possible to do with that?
Thank you.

Hi I also have just gotten a focus fifth gen braille display ans
Hello I also have just gotten a focus 40 braille fifth gen braille display and would like to know how to type on it using ios. I found that when the i phoneis paird with a braille display through blue tuth that vo doesn't see the keyboard and you can't type on the phone but I am not skilld enough to type on the braille display or to use the keys to navigate the phone with vo on the display. I would like to know how to do this? I likethe above poster mostley use the display to read things on windows like e mails and stuff like that.
Showing onscreen keyboard
By default, onscreen keyboard is hidden when the braille display is connected. If you want to see the keyboard on the screen you need to enable the setting in the braille iOs settings. Or you can press space plus dots 146 to show it each time separately.
Answers
1. This is a personal preference, I prefer 8-dot uncontracted braille.
2. I am not sure of this, but probably there is no way you can expand the word under the cursor, the only thing you may do is to enable speech and press the cursor and the word will be pronounced.
3 and 4, unfortunately there is no way around this.
Any tips for the NLS Display?
I just got it a few weeks ago and I need help with learning how to use Braille with iOS? Can the NLS Display be added to the Apple supported list too? Will Bluetooth drain the iPad battery? I don’t even know if it comes with a sd card and how much memory it has. None of that was in the literature.
