reading Braille on my display/iPhone without the use of the internet

Braille on Apple Products
I have a RefreshaBraille display, and an iPhone 4S with IOS 7. I'd like to be able to grab text from either an e-mail attachment or a dropbox folder, and copy into my notes app so that I can read things when I do not have data or wifi access. In theory, I thought I was able to do this, but it seems like when I try to copy all text and attempt to paste to a note, I am unable to copy. I double-tapped on a dropbox file from that app, but can't copy the text for pasting into a note. Can this be done? I am a voiceover artist, and emcee events where I would like to use my display to read things that are on my iPhone. I realize I might not always have data or wifi access in these situations. I know that might be rare, but incase that is so, I'd like to be able to read things from my phone on the display without having to access the internet. Is there a work-around for this? I figured that since reading notes are not dependent on data once I've copied text there, this would work. Thanks.
