So, a few months ago, I got great help from this forum on orienting my device for use with Braille Screen Input. I'm hopeful someone can help now. Here's the situation:
I'm using a new app called Ghostwriter Markdown, and oh, how I love it! Even the most casual of writers among us really should be playing with this. It has changed how I write since this weekend.
But as most of you know, the number sign (#) is a huge part of writing successfully in Markdown. I can't reproduce it using Braille Screen Input on either my iPhone 16 Pro Max or my iPad Mini latest generation running iOS 26.6. I type dots 4, 5, 6, then dots 3, 4, 5, 6, and the number sign never shows up. I've switched between UEB Contracted and UEB Uncontracted tables, still no joy.
And it's not the fault of that snazzy new app. I can't reproduce the number sign even in the iOS Notes app using Braille Screen input.
Admittedly, I can exit BSI and insert the number sign with the on-screen keyboard, but that feels like a workflow interruption I'd like to avoid if I can.

Dots 4-5-6, 1-4-5-6 (#) is how you produce the hash symbol, as in this example.

Thank you so much for both the accuracy and speed of your reply! I knew exactly what I was doing wrong the minute you sent that comment; I could see that dot combination in my head. I sometimes think I'm a lost cause for sure; the minute you listed those dots, I could almost feel them.
