Hi all.

I’ve recently aquired a smart beetle braille display which i am loving but i was wondering if you can do emojies on a braille display? Whilst i don’t use these often, i do use them an odd time. Also what is the @ symbol on a braille display?

Many thanks for your help.

Hi,

There is no way to enter emojis on a Braille display directly. You have to enable show onscreen keyboard in Braille settings and select emojis from the keyboard like how you normally would. You can, however, input the smiley or sad faces that use parentheses, colons and dashes.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Maddy

Hi @Maddy.

Thanks for your help with the emoji question. I have discovered, quite by accident, that if you switch to eight dot braille, then you can do a :) with the colan and the right bracket key. You can then switch back again to contracted after that.

Many thanks for your help :)
