I'm using an iPhone 14 Plus with iOS16.6. There's a problem with the Braille Screen Input feature. It tells me that contractions are off before I try to start typing, even though I have it set up for contracted input. I don't think it even says CONTRACTIONS OFF" when you have the input set to uncontracted. Then when I try to type it acts like the braille keyboard isn't there. It still goes to landscape but for example when I Do the one-finger flick right gesture for a space, it just annoumces the next item to the right of the VO cursor, and opposite if I swipe to the left. It also does this weird high-speed scrolling thing when I slide my finger across the screen, but doesn't appear to be moving anywhere. And other VO gestures that typically are disabled in braille screen mode remain available. Like the dot calibration gesture just turns speech on or off. In short, I'm just saying it won't let me type anything in braille. Handwriting mode also has similar problems where it won't let me write anything down. This is only happening on my phone, and specifically in the main search field on the Google app. It works normally everywhere else on my phone, and when I looked in the Google app on other phones in the house with the same iOS and the same version of Google, it worked ok as well. Anybody know what I should do, or have faced a similar problem before? Btw I'm using Google version 279.1, the most up-to-date version of the app today.

Same Issue On My 13Pro
Hi, I'm also experiencing this on my 13Pro, using iOS16.6 and the latest version of the Google app.
Workaround
Same here on a 12 mini. This usually happens when I pull up a search field, like searching for a song in Apple Music. What I figured out is that BSI will work normally if you touch a key on the virtual keyboard before you turn the rotor to BSI.
Fixed Now
They've posted that they fixed the problem: https://support.google.com/websearch/thread/235700713/braille-screen-input-issue-on-ios-google-app
