Hi, Guys.
I am trying to get the hang of how to fully and actively use a Braille display with my iPhone. Up till now I've only been using the display to read content on the iPhone and have been using BSI to input text. Now that I have an NLS eReader I want to get the hang of using the physical keyboard.
As I understand it, VO handles how the Braille is seen according to how things are set under the Braille option. I am set for both 8-dot Braille output and input.
I am seeing some odd things.
1) I get 8-dot Braille on all of the pages where the apps get chosen. But when I open some of the apps, like Notes and Mail, the Braille shows up as contracted.
2) In the apps where contracted Braille shows up upon opening, I cannot type in 8-dot mode. As soon as I hit the spacebar the word gets contracted. (I have NOT gone into Settings to change anything. I just checked after trying to type in Notes and failing to get 8-dot input/output, and I'm still set for 8-dot output/input.)
How do I resolve this? I don't think it has anything to do with that I'm still on iOS14. I've had Braille input/output/display issues since BSI was implemented; those issues made me shy away from fully using the Braille display with my phone.
Any ideas on how to resolve things would be very much appreciated.
