Yes was looking into this myself the other day and came up a complete blank. Would love to know myself. There must be somewhere. Maybe blind societies but it's a hard find.

Not giving a 3 grand piece of equipment away. Would rather dance a jig on it until it became a nest of wire, silicon and plastic.

I'll check out blind bargains, they may also have an idea of where to sell in the UK.

If you buy from site and sound, i'm quite sure you can ask for a demo of the unit before buying, you might want to check them out in the future.

Actually they might take it too, I honestly don't think you're going to get anywhere in the UK that will buy it.

Why not just give it away, yes it will mean you will have lost some money but I assume you're not a fan of the unit or want to buy another so decluttering is always a good idea.

I tried to have a look for you but I can't find anything about sight and sound buying braille displays, perhaps you could call them and ask.

I've seen the odd Braille display pop up on eBay over the years.

Yeah, you could try that, but honestly i doubt many people are browsing amazon or ebay for this stuff.

What about facebook groups! That could work.

OH and there's also r/blind, I'm not sure if you can sell on there but you could ask and see what they say.

But don't you see, Ollie, you've come up with your own solution. You could have some kind of GoFundMe fund raiser, where if you raise "3 grand," you will live-stream a smashing of the machine. Donate to a blind man's rage!!

I'd watch that. But then there's the clean up...

Then I do a go fund me to have it fixed. Flawless.

I've sent an email to RNIB helpline and am contaction my local blind society to see if anyone is in the market for it. Humanwear called me back and were as helpful as they could be saying they can't take it back unless I bought it direct, but did suggest local associations.

I'll keep people posted on this as it seems to be a good question. I'd imagine, if the roles were reversed and I were looking at such a device I'd be happy to get it half price compared with list price... It's just there isn't much of a market. Also, the orbit Q40 is coming out soon which is far more affordable.

Hi,

Send a msg to subscribe@recycle-it@groups.io
This will get you access to the recycle-it mailing list where neigh on 900 blind or visually impaired users buy and sell used products mainly tech but can be other things.
There is also a second group known as secondhandzone@groups.io that does a similar thing.

Hth
