Ray-banMeta glasses and live AI?

Hi all,

I've had my Ray-ban smart glasses for at least a month now and every time I try to start live AI I get the message that live AI isn't available on the glasses. I asked google over the weekend if Meta live AI is available near my town and it apparently is so does anybody have any suggestions for me to try?

I called Ray-ban.com last week and it was suggested that I do a factory reset and I tried that, and I have no idea if it completed or not but even if it did I still can't get live AI to work. The factory reset I did may not have completed though because I had to set up the glasses again after completion and I was thinking that if I could reinstall updates that that might help, but after whatever my attempt at the factory reset accomplished when I went back to updates in the meta AI app I found that the glasses were up to date.

I know that the update that gave the glasses live AI also gave them live translation, and I haven't had a need to translate anything yet but as far as I can tell the only thing I can't get to work is live AI. Help please?

Oh and the meta AI app on my iPhone 16E says that one item is available but I can't find whatever that is.

Speak my subject line into your smart glasses, exactly as you see it. This is how I enable live AI. To disable it, just replace the word, enable, with the word, disable, and that's pretty much it. Also, do keep in mind that live AI is a huge battery sink.
Just a heads up. :-)

Sidenote, if you do not have live AI on your glasses, for whatever reason, Meta will tell you.

HTH.

Brian,

I did what you said to do and the response was still "live AI isn't available on your glasses". I know you said that if live AI isn't available that the glasses would tell me and I assume this is the response I'd get, and I admit that I don't know how this technology works and how the roll out is being handled but when I googled over the weekend and found out that Meta live AI is supposed to be available in my area I thought that meant it should work for me.

As I said in my original note the meta AI app on my iPhone says that there's one item available, but when I go to updates the glasses say they're up to date so I don't know what item is supposedly available either. I thought it might be the live AI so that's why I called ray-ban.com the other day and that's when they told me to do the factory reset, which I mentioned that I'm not sure if that got completed or not. I don't know how difficult it would be and if it would even work but I thought that if I could try to reinstall updates on the glasses that it might help, I thought that maybe the update that includes live AI may've gotten corrupted somehow.

You can find this out by doing the following:
1. On the home tab of the Meta AI app, double tap on profile & settings.
2. On the next screen, just after the device settings heading, double tap on the name of your Ray-Bans.
3. On this next screen, double tap on the general button, then the about button.
4. Finally, on the About screen, navigate until you find the version button. It will have some long number sequence. Double tap on this, and you will get the latest version update, and what has been improved/added to the features and functionality of the Ray-Ban smart glasses.

You, should, have version 16.1. The changes are as follows:
• More detailed responses.
• iHeartRadio has now been added to the Ray-Ban's.
• Improvement to the Spotify tap feature on the Ray-Ban's.

If you have all of this, you, should, have live AI functionality. I understand you said that you don't, and you have tried factory resetting your smart glasses, and checking in to see if there's any additional updates. I just wanted to provide this for you, so you have a reference.

HTH. :-)

I installed the 16.1 update just the other day but to make sure I just checked and indeed that is there.

I bought the glasses from a company in Florida that sells blindness products and I'm supposed to call the guy who owns the company Friday morning to see if he can help me. He's sighted but he uses the glasses himself so maybe he'll have some ideas. Since that's not until Friday though I thought I'd ask on applevis to see if possibly somebody else has experienced this and found a fix.

The glasses do everything I want them to do as long as I say hey meta, and I know live AI drains more battery but I'd still like to be able to use it in certain situations.

Fair enough. The only thing I can think of is that it just hasn't made it to your glasses as of yet. I know it took a while for that particular feature to appear on mine, and then one day it was just there. So, it may just be a matter of playing the "waiting game" until that feature finally arrives on your device. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Maybe live AI isn't available in all parts of Texas but I have 2 friends, one in the central part of the state and one in northeast Texas near the Oklahoma border, and both can use live AI.

I'm okay waiting if that's all I can do, I just want to be sure that I'm not missing out on it because of something I'm doing wrong or because I'm not doing something that I should do to make it work.

Hey Troy should you try using a VPN, pick up a diferent region some other state like California and try to activate Live AI.
and please let us know if this work for you.
