Good afternoon,
I hope this message finds everyone well. I just got a pair of Meta Ray-Bans and I heard that they were going to be getting a Shazam integration, but I haven't seen it in the Meta View app even though Meta say it's available now. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a gradual rollout, but I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks!

As I understand things
It is supposed to be part of Meta AI, where you can say something like, "hey Meta, who sings this song?", or something similar, and Meta AI is supposed to give you a reply just like your iPhone does with the Shazam integration with Siri.
I have yet to get this to properly work for me, but I have heard mixed results from others, so Good luck with it. 😅
Not available everywhere
It is region locked - definitely available in the US, probably Canada. I’m in the UK and it’s not for me yet. I’m not sure if you have to enable integration through MetaView or not.
OK, help me out here
Why, for all that is right in the world, would music recognition be Geo locked? This hurts my brain! 🫤👎
Guessing a gradual roll-out?
I'm in the US and still don't have this feature. I'm usually more patient with gradual roll-outs, but the ones relating to the glasses are driving me crazy because mine seem to take weeks to get these features, even though I've registered for early access.
@Brooke
I totally understand. Unfortunately, I'm a little less patient with gradual roll-outs in general and this seems to be a general flaw of mine :)
I'm in the US also and I keep checking Connected Apps in Meta View as Meta say it's "available now", but I still don't see anything.
I don't have it either.
I'm glad it's not just me.
I've tried phrasing it in several ways, but nothing has worked yet.
I also registered for early access but haven't heard anything yet.
I hope some day they'll have an API so developers can release their own apps to them.
Proper aira integration would be nice.
Re: I don't have it either.
I get what you're saying about the API; it would be nice if Meta didn't have such intense restrictions on the camera inside the glasses. This could open up a whole new world of potential, even if Meta themselves decided to stop supporting the glasses. I think I'll stick with Be My Eyes though; I can't be spending $5 every time I need to check the oven :)
Adulting kinda stinks! LOL!
Happy New Year!

PS: Some people on Reddit are already saying that the Shazam integration is starting to roll out to more people, but I can't be sure at this point. SIGH!
I can't imagine an API for…
I can't imagine an API for developers as the device is designed to feed into the great machine that is meta. Allowing others to use the glasses for other purposes whilst sidestepping the training data and content meta gets out of the deal, seems unlikely. I think be my eyes is an exception because it is good for publicity.
I predict the Ray-bans will remain closed down. Saying that, I'm not sure about the deal that gets apps like apple music, spotify and, eventually, audible on there. All I can guess is that they add functionality without competing with meta's data gathering where, something like Chat GPT would.
Meta View App Updated!
Good morning!
Did anyone see the new app update that came out 2 days ago for Meta View? I just updated this morning, however, I still can't seem to find the Shazam integration.
I would be anxious to hear if anyone else is starting to get access.
Cheers!
I got this information from The about screen.
If you go to settings, your glasses, about, version, you will get a rundown of the latest updates to the Meta View software. The following is what I got regarding Shazam:
""Identify what music is playing around you. Set up Shazam by going to Settings > Connected apps > Shazam and then ask “Hey Meta, what is this song?” Discovering music has never been easier! This feature will roll out gradually and will be available in the US and Canada."".
I would like to add that I do not have Shazam listed under connected apps, but it does say above that it is still rolling out. So we shall see ...
Update: I got it!
The integration with Shazam has finally rolled out to my glasses. Here are my observations:
The Shazam integration works very well, and the setup process did not require opening another app and linking your account like Amazon Music or Spotify. Meta AI was able to successfully identify a song playing on my HomePod from a nostalgia playlist as Rihanna's "Only Girl (In The world)". There were no audible processing tones when Meta AI was scanning, and the glasses used the lower-quality version of the Meta AI voice when using Shazam.
Overall, it works very well, and the setup process was virtually instant. I'll update this post if I have any further interesting experiences.
Best wishes from Eagle, Idaho!
Lucky you
Still isn't up and running on my Meta's just yet, but I am definitely looking forward to it.
