Hi my friends:
i saw today a video mention a great tool called Bocket money brailler, for writing quick braille labels on money.
THis tool is not here in Egypt, so amthinking to purchase from USA or any other COuntry, but is it really useful before purchasing?
will it help me in a quick way?
i know that Carrying Cash is not happening offen these days, but sometimes i have money, and using apps like cash reader on street is not a great thing.
Any ideas, please will be highly appreciated

Strategies
Hi,
I've not used this device but I have done a couple of strategies for identifying paper money over the years. My primary one is to use a folding method. For example don't fold a $1 bill. Fold a $5 bill in half and fold a $10 bill in half the long way, the opposite of the $5 bill.
You can also braille on the corner of a bill by hand if you have a slate and stylus. You don't actually need a dedicated machine for this. I have done that also but the braille markings don't last real long if you end up carrying the bill for a long time. Overall as you said, I don't carry that much cash anymore
folded way,Re: Strategies
I'll try.
Regarding slate , yes i have for sure, but it is much easier.
and about that it will disappear after period of time, do not worry, money will not be here for a long time.
:D
Device doesn’t work very well
Unfortunately, this device does not work very well. You end up putting the money into the machine and you put the number of the denomination of the bill onto it, but it tends to squish the Braille a bit so it doesn’t really work as well as it might in theory. I also use a folding method identify my bills. The thing about Braille your bills is that you would still need someone to tell you what they are initially in order to borrow them. So the solution didn’t work great for me. But if you want to give us a shot, you certainly could.
folded way?Re: Device doesn’t work very well
Really am trying to imagine how can i do the folded way?
frankly i do not know how,
but , tell me if you can.
about the device, thanks for telling me.
wish it is useful
More or less in the same category of device
WTH is the orbit research iBill? I remember that in canada cnib has a $10 bank note reader device too, so I wonder why theirs costs +$100 for usd? Or is it a completely different product.
Canadian folding money
About a decade ago, when I was in guide dog school, there was an older gentleman from Canada, who was showing me all of his Canadian folding money. All of it was brailled, and according to him, it comes that way.
Canadian folding money is interesting, because the paper feels a lot like credit card receipt paper, rather than US mint. A shame the rest of the world doesn't adopt this strategy, it would make things a lot easier.
Re: More or less in the same category of device
The iBill is a dedicated money identifier, and a really tiny one at that. It runs on a single triple A battery.
Last time I checked, the second gen version, which I think came out in around 2012, now costs $179, which is, like everything else now, more than the $119 it was when it came out. Inflation ruining everything!
But here in the US, the government has a program where you can get one free, at least I think it's still active. It's a little bit like how the NLS has their talking book players and e-reader Braille displays. I got mine at a convention where they were handing them out like candy before they opened the program up to everyone.
I use my phone for everything, but it's a useful dedicated AT device to keep around for certain situations.
