When I apply for work I will eventually need to provide a WPM for my typing. anyone know a good accessible way to find that? Thanks

Set a timer on your smart phone for one minute, on the computer, type out the following sentence as many times as you can within that one minute time frame.
the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
Note the beginning of the sentence is not capitalized, nor is there any punctuation at the end.
This is how I was tested, back in the day.
They choose this sentence because it uses every single letter in the English alphabet.

HTH.

Brian, That sentence takes me back to the early days of learning to type. Also, there's a program, I guess it's still out there, called Talking Typer. It's for learning to type but it may include tests to find out your speed.

If you have a Bluetooth keyboard for your iPhone, you can get Talking Typer for iOS at the following link:

I cannot remember which one I trained with, back in the day when I was going through blindness training, for lack of a better description, but I used one that was kind of interesting. It taught you through a series of games and such. It may even have been Talking Typer for PC. I just honestly cannot remember, was nearly 2 decades ago. 😅

Ultimately, it taught me the keyboard layout, and improve my typing Quite a bit.
Prior to losing my eyesight, I was one of those, "Hunt and peck", typists. I could do some pretty fast typing though, with just my index fingers, while staring at the keyboard.

Of course, losing my eyesight meant those days were over.

There is an irony here; the blind guy who can not only type properly, but faster and more accurately, then the guy with 20/20 vision. 🥹
