Noticing a large dip in Airtag battery

Hi all. My airtag battery is already at 15% and it's barely been in my wallet a few months. I know it says a year, but I wonder if there's a glitch in Apple's ecosystem. Let me explain. I've used find my for my watch when it was buried and the wallet a bit to just see if I could hear the sound in my purse. Note, hope they increase that sound a bit in some firmware update. However i've only used the Airtag itself a couple of times to find something, the watch has nothing to do with the battery drain issue I find. So my question becomes, Is there some way of stopping the battery drain in the first place? I mean once I find the wallet, the sound has only played for 30 seconds or so. So I'm curious why after only a couple of uses, the battery drained as fast as it did. Now if I did this constantly, or always showed it off, I'd understand the battery being very low. I just wish there'd be an alert on your phone that you click on found, and it stops the battery from depleting. Yeah I know it's not a big expense, nor is it a big deal to ask about this. Just wondering if anyone ever thought about this stuff. Thanks.

I had this exact same issue with mine when I got mine for my wallet. Unfortunately, I needede to take it into the apple store. After conversationsw with store staff, Apple agreed to replace it.
The good news is, after it being replaced, it works just fine. Its been in my wallet almost a year now and its at 80%. My advice is if you can get to an apple store, take it in and explain the situation.

I bought four of these, I'm not going to use all four for one item. So do I just bring it in for one? I don't want to do this with each one. Bought maybe three months ago maybe four but yeah. Thanks so much.
