What the heck is this padding thing all about?

Apple Beta Releases

In iOS 26 beta, I keep seeing this thing when my on screen keyboard is visible that says something about padding... Things like padding left, padding right, etc etc. It's super super super annoying! Does anyone know what the heck this is all about? Is it some sort of ghost item that Voiceover is seeing but doesn't really actually exist? I've tried double tapping along with other things, but can't for the life of me figure out what this is. I'm kinda shocked no one yet has said anything up here about it.

Your Feedback is Important to Improving Accessibility on Apple platforms

Don't assume that Apple is aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference - submitting bug reports directly to the company helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. Your report may provide crucial information. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority they give to fixing the bug.

If you're using a beta version, use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you're using a public release, follow the instructions on this page.

I’m wondering the same

This is literally just a bug. Remember that this is beta one. There is essentially no room to get frustrated. You chose to install this. And at this early juncture, there are going to be a lot of issues. So report them, and literally move on because they’ll probably be fixed by the time beta two or three hits.

Yes, I agree with others; it's a bug, but absolutely report it.

This is part of the new design where there are arrows on the screen that moves along with your text. These of course should not be seen with VoiceOver.

interesting, regarding the arrows visually being on the screen that move with the text you are typing/editing. I'm curious. From a visual standpoint, if I were sided, and hypothetically could see, what would the point be of having these arrows. Aren't there already ways to go about moving the insertion point, or are these arrows not used for moving around the text? again, I understand that they don't really do much anything with voiceover, but I'm speaking here if you were sighted.

@Ash Rein, I sense that what you define as being frustrated, and what I define as being frustrated are two entirely different things. please don't mistake me saying that it's extremely annoying to mean that I'm frustrated. I can tell that I was simply curious. You'reprobably gonna take this the wrong way, but, it's all good; i'm not frustrated.

According to my dad they improve the contrast, so you can see the position better with the new liquid glass design.
