Apple Beta Releases
Your Feedback is Important to Improving Accessibility on Apple platforms
Don't assume that Apple is aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference - submitting bug reports directly to the company helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. Your report may provide crucial information. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority they give to fixing the bug.
If you're using a beta version, use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you're using a public release, follow the instructions on this page.

For macOS, very…
For macOS, very disappointing, seemingly none of my bug reported have been resolved yet and some of them are quite major.
To make it more…
To make it more understandable and moderate (slightly) my tone chatgpt was extensively used to paraphrase. Content is obviously mine :)
iPhone mirroring remains problematic with VoiceOver, as in most previous releases. This seems to be a VoiceOver-specific issue, because items are visible on screen confirmed with vo-shift-l. The app switcher is still almost unusable accessed with the button or CMD-2, for instance.
On a positive note, arrow keys in text fields now work almost normally, which previously was a significant pain. However, users still can’t use option-arrow or shift,-option-arrow to select text. The rotor and other native VO text commands remain inconsistent and confusing.
Other key issues persist, including:
• The new dock bug reported in the 15.2 Beta 2 thread remains unresolved, despite over 10 similar reports.
• Volume adjustment with the trackpad (cmd rotor) is still broken.
• Navigation of math content in iWork apps is impossible (reported off-forum).
• The persistent issue with Text Attributes Speak being announced at each movement in text fields has not been addressed. This could be a major issue, especially for students like me, and was reported as far back as the first developer betas of Sequoia 15.0.
• The menu bar bug persists, where moving up past the first element with VO-Up Arrow or a trackpad swipeup triggers an automatic click on that element (e.g., “About Finder” in the Finder submenu).
The only fix I’ve noticed after 15 minutes of usage and two reboots is that VO-Shift-D from a Finder window now works correctly to go to the desktop. This was a known issue, but it went unacknowledged even after patch (positively accidental or on purpose) like most of the bugs reported here, many of which are 1–2 months old.
Additionally:
• The terminal bug, where up/down arrows read additional random portions of previous outputs instead of the immediate current line, remains unaddressed.
• The long-standing issue where VoiceOver skips immediate outputs after pressing Enter (e.g., after commands like ls or pwd ) is still unresolved.
• Nested lists in PDFs in Preview and Safari continue to be cumbersome.
All these issues have been reported with detailed explanations of their impact on blind users, for whom VoiceOver is often the only way to interact with 100% of the system. Another random one, the Writing Tools in Action Menu announcements still persist and no new option appear to have been added in the VO Utility for that specifically (or any other patch as far as I know).
If these problems aren’t acknowledged openly at least by the community, the experience for VoiceOver users will never improve. Little bugs, details like these are key in a good UX and apple is ironically known for that, apparently we (especially on mac) aren't prioritized enough.
I'm putting all this because…
I'm putting all this because these are RC, likely final versions and for those who have upgraded it's often normal to don't get any update unless the build number for the final is different.
Awaiting an iOS 18.2 report with bated breath ...
And hoping that things that bother me with iOS 18 will finally be resolved ...
RC
Got it and no issues. You know for those who want to wait a week nice but if you do not, get the RC is the public version that comes next week. Unless apple is fixing major issues the same version will be release next week. Got it for my 16 pro mx, watch 9, and iPad 9.
I'm finding 18.2 RC quite…
I'm finding 18.2 RC quite frustrating. Unlocking is slow with voiceover, some apps need to be restarted, it's not feeling like a final candidate to be honest. I downgraded originally and regret upgrading once again.
Ollie
Did you do a restart? That might help. No issues. Fast and works well. RC works.
I was just coming back to…
I was just coming back to say exactly this. A restart seems to have shaken out the cobwebs. Sorry to pannic!
siri is still an idiot though. :)
always always restart
This goes for any one always always do a restart. This is something you should do pretty promptly after it comes back up. It insures everything is working as it should.
I know people have said they…
I know people have said they were having issues reading by line in the notes app. While this does seem to work now, the journal app still has several issues with VO.
If you open an entry and try to read by line, you can't read past the end of the paragraph, the next flick down just produces the boundary reached sound. Also, at least for me, if I flick back up, the whole app locks up and I have to go back to the home screen before my phone will respond at all again.
Many of the prompts you can write to aren't accessible with VoiceOver. The text-based ones are, but things like people you've connected with or music and podcasts you've listened to don't speak any useful info. I wonder if that's because it's showing a group of options and not just a single one, so that could be how it's supposed to work.
Deniss
Yes, agree %100 doing a restart in your phone and iPad. Also Siri needs a brain transfer, maybe she will get one in the beginning of 26 from what I heard.
Notes and journaling
Shame to hear about the Journal app, but if line by line reading works again in notes, then I will be a happy camper.
The bug with volume going…
The bug with volume going down on apple watch randomly (at least I wasn't able to see any patern) is still there on RC.
I'm Still Struggling with iPhone Mirroring
I'm still having issues with iPhone Mirroring. One of the few things I try to use it for is writing in Apple's Journal app, but when I try to compose an entry, I can't see the same information that I see on my phone itself. Has anyone found any work-arounds?
There is a complete thread…
There is a complete thread about iphone mirroring but tldr it's still very very very buggy and unpractical to use for voiceover users. Just the app switcher is a pain to use. :(
Another bug is that when in …
Another bug is that when in non-standard view on mac with voiceover (announce groups for me), in the notification centre vo-o since either the update just before the rc or more the notifications are seperated into 3 elements, the app name, the notification itself and an image (I think). The bug is that the actions such as close, show menu, are not available and are only for the first notification in the list the focus is placed on when you perform the shortcut. It happened somewhere along the 15.2 beta cycles as on 15.1.1 I don't have this.
watchOS 11.2 RC: Still No Fix for that Apple Watch Volume Bug!
It's very disappointing that Apple still hasn't fixed the reported bug regarding changing the volume of multimedia and VoiceOver, despite the release of the RC version.
The values by which the volume is changed are random, but this change occurs in the following observed cases:
1. when I get an incoming call on the Apple Watch regardless of whether I can hear the call sound or only feel the haptics on my wrist during the call,
2. While I am asking Siri for something the volume is also drastically lowered,
3. while dictating a text,
4. while triggering the alarm sound at the time it was set for.
As I mentioned, I reported the bug exactly on October 08 for the first time, but nothing has been done about it so far!
There is a new build number…
There is a new build number for probably all of them just so everyone knows, Apple re released them. On my iphone 14 going from the first to the second build took about 200-300mb of storage.
The build numbers are 22c151 for ipados and ios18.2, 24C100 for macos 15.2, 22K155 for tvos and 22N841 for visionos 2.2. Nothing for watch os which remains on the innitial rc. (apple insider)
Major Accessibility Success
I recently sent an email to Apple Accessibility detailing how ChatGPT integration and Writing Tools on older devices could help people with other disabilities perform tasks more easily, as well as reduce the amount of times a user has to use the touchscreen when interacting with Siri. I got a response this morning saying that they were passing on my feedback to the appropriate team. This comes after 2 feedback reports detailing the usefulness of these more substantial upgrades on older devices being completely ignored! My next 'step is to get involved with the NFB and other podcasts and spread the word even further from there!
saying that they were passing on my feedback to the appropriate
They had said that whenever I reported issues with a bug for accessibility. Makes you think if the AI is responding to emails about bug reports.
saying they will pass it on is the correct response
if they said anything more it would be the wrong thing to do. If they had a huge bug and they promised you and others xx featured would be added by 18.3 then it wasn't added because they had to fix bug xx fil in whatever bug you want then you and others would gripe. So as much as you might not like it you are getting the correct response. Apple has an excellent track record of considering what we want and trying to add it.
Weird bug with the Mail app
Someone mentioned that they were having this weird bug with the mail app, and sure enough, my phone was doing the same thing.
Whenever you have unread emails, the badge count doesn’t get updated on the home screen.
For example, if you have 10 unread emails, voiceover will still say no unread emails on the home screen, while going into the Mail app reveals that you do have unread emails.
I’ll report feedback about this very soon.
Maybe a setting
Hi,
Can't fully remember but I'm sure I've seen something similar on the appstore app. As such I'm also almost certain there was a setting somewhere to make sure the update count showed. Can't remember how I ssorted it but it maybe the same thing. Not much help really though.
