Mail app VoiceOver scrolling issue in iOS 26.1 RC

I reported an issue with VoiceOver 3 finger scrolling in the Mail app introduced in beta 3 of iOS 26.1 and this issue persists in the release candidate. The feedback post indicates that there are more than 10 similar reports. I'm using an iPhone 17 Pro and the issue seems to be mostly related to mail messages which have image content. If VoiceOver is focused on an image in a message then the three finger scroll gesture doesn't work. If a vertical scroll bar is present this operates as normal. The issue can be quite irritating when the message comprises multiple consecutive images. With only 10+ similar reports I wonder if the bug is only appearing under very specific circumstances. Are others experiencing this?

If you experience a bug in Apple Beta Software, the most important thing you can do is to file a report in Feedback Assistant. Please do not assume that Apple is already aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference; your report may provide crucial information, and submitting bug reports directly to Apple helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority Apple is likely to give to fixing the bug.

If you are using beta software, please use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you are using a public release, this blog post explains how to report the issue and what information to include.

In 2025, AppleVis launched the Community Bug Reporting Program with the goal of improving the quality and quantity of information we share with the community about bugs in Apple software releases. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please submit your reports via our Community Bug Report Form.

All reports shared with AppleVis must first be filed with Apple via Feedback Assistant. More information about the Community Bug Program is available here.

Hey!

I encounter this bug too, but in messages with and without images. Are you sure that you're able to scroll in messages that doesn't contain images?

Anyways, I've reported this bug to Apple - hope this will be fixed, it's very anoying...

You mention that you received a feedback of only ten reported bugs - I didn't know that Apple was replying to our feedback? Or were you referring to the bug tracker here in Applevis?

Have a wonderful day !

I can confirm this is happening to all emails, regardless of whether there are images or not. Prior to this update it was sporadic for me, with no clear reason why it would happen with some emails and not others, sometimes not impacting the same kind of email from one day to the next. Now that's moot, it is all email and has basically made it nearly impossible to use because this issue means you can't open links without manually digging for them, which is a whole other problem with the tap and drag method of manually scrolling being very inconsistent.

Hi all,

I discover that if you touch the vertical scroll bar at the right side, and then you swipe three fingers, the pages seem to scroll correctly, despite this bug inside of the message body.

Hope that could help, especially with long emails! :)

Have a great week-end!

Hi everyone,

I’ve retested tonight with Beta 3 of iPadOS 26.2 and it seems to be resolved. The pages scroll normally in the message body.

If you still have any issue don’t hesitate to mention :)

Hope that it’s definitely corrected now!

Have a wonderful week !

If this wasn't my only iPhone I'd be tempted to install that beta now. I have been missing so much information and can barely get work done with this bug. I really wish Apple would push out a quick fix update or something, this is awful.
