IOS 16 beta not reading out emojis using voice over

Apple Beta Releases

Is anyone experiencing this issue? I am currently on the iOS 16 public beta, and I've had a few bugs, encounters with bugs of my own. And one of them is a really big deal to me, and I'm not sure if we've got another public beta update for the software. Yet apparently we haven't got it yet. But my VoiceOver is not reading emojis out. For example I have somebody in a contact name, and I know I put a red heart, it's not reading it out. And then when I go to the emojis, it says 57, 56, 55, instead of the name of the emoji. I've already reported the feedback but so far we've got no new update yet, not that I expect to get a new update straight away when I report it, but it's now been two weeks. Do they usually take this long to come up with new public updates and is it happening, the same thing happening for you guys?

Hi,
Yes, I’m definitely seeing this issue on my end. For the time being, I am not using emojis at all.

hi tree, I'm running the public beta of iOS 16, and I'm not having this issue. I'm using the Alex voice as VoiceOver and this issue doesn't happen for me. although, there are quite a few bugs witch I'm hoping apple fixes in the next beta.

Hi, I have the same problem with all the voices I have tried so far. Namely eloquence but also with the Siri voice 5. I can not comment on other voices regarding Emojis. Looking forward to a new public Beta soon.

I, and I'm sure a lot of others, have reported this so hoping it gets fixed. It seems to be voice-specific though. Eloquence and Samantha don't speak emojis, but Fred does. Haven't tried Alex since I deleted it as soon as I found out Eloquence was coming... no sense and taking up all that extra space.

This bug was fixed for me as well. Elequence now reads emojies, thank god.

Yep. I even got a form email from Apple saying the bug may have been resolved in the beta update since I reported it. Neat!

I did get a email like that f for a apple watch bug I reported telling me to upgrade to the latest watch beta, but I cannot check for updates. When I check for updates, it says your apple watch is up to date.

Using iPad 9 gen and apple smart keyboard. Photos is not fix. It chrash VO and reset to Samantha. Was using Evans. Did it 2 times same issue. Could not navigate.

Now I will need to do a feedback on feedback. Using it to report issues with photos and image and VO crashing. Feedback close on me when got a notification. Lucky the data did not deleted and was able to report the issue with photos.

iOS 16 Public Beta 2 seems to fix lots of VoiceOver issues. The iMessage buttons at the bottom are now properly labeled, and VoiceOver will once again read the type of attachment, such as file type, audio attached, where previously it would simply say the sender, timestamp, and, button.
As mentioned, it also fixes the inability for VoiceOver to read emojis.
I'm not sure if it is just me, but it also seems like the crackling and clicking VoiceOver used to make is now gone, though I cannot fully verify this yet, as I only obtained the update yesterday and need to test it further to be absolutely sure.

Agree on the voice clicking, i'm barely noticing it after the update.
