Could someone join me in reporting these bugs?

Apple Beta Releases

I am at my wit's end, so I am being a little shameless. So far, every physical accessibility bug I have reported in the betas has been ignored. And now the 17.4 public beta has royally injured Voice Control, which I often use in conjunction with VoiceOver. So if somebody else could join me in reporting at least one of the more minor bugs that follow, I would really appreciate it. I'm just curious what would happen if there were multiple reports. To enable Voice Control, go to Settings, then Accessibility, then Voice Control.

First: FB13573174 (Voice Control: "New Paragraph" command inserts text, does not execute).

Expected behavior: Saying the "New paragraph" command would execute a double return to start a new paragraph.

Issue: Saying "New paragraph" causes Voice Control to insert the actual text "new paragraph" instead of starting a new paragraph.

To reproduce: Enable Voice Control and enter a text field, for example a Pages document. Dictate a phrase, then say "New paragraph."

Second: FB13349033 (Voice Control "Numeral" command inserts text, does not execute).

Expected behavior: Saying "Numeral" before a number would produce a numeral. For instance, that saying "Numeral three" would produce 3.

Issue: Saying "Numeral" before a number causes Voice Control to insert the actual text of the command instead of a numeral. For instance, saying "Numeral three" produces the text "numeral three" instead of 3.

To reproduce: Enable Voice Control and enter a text field. Say, for example, "numeral three."

Third: FB13448946 (Voice Control incorrectly inserts a dash when dictating a hyphen).

Expected behavior: When saying "Hyphen" or dictating a hyphenated word, Voice Control would insert a hyphen (-). For instance, saying "Self hyphen taught" would produce self-taught.

Issue: When saying "hyphen," Voice Control inserts an en dash instead. For instance, saying "Self hyphen taught" produces self – taught, which is not correct.

To reproduce: Enable Voice Control and enter a text field. Say a phrase containing a hyphenated word. For instance, say "He is a self hyphen taught artist."

Your Feedback is Important to Improving Accessibility on Apple platforms

Don't assume that Apple is aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference - submitting bug reports directly to the company helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. Your report may provide crucial information. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority they give to fixing the bug.

If you're using a beta version, use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you're using a public release, follow the instructions on this page.

I’ve already gotten into the Feedback application and submitted the same bug reports essentially mirroring the challenges you’ve mentioned. It sucks when we find these issues and feel alone and tackling them. You are definitely not alone and I got your back. I’m more concerned with headings no longer being present for the today. Tab of the News app. Similarly it seems like text selection Has been broken for at least beta one of iOS 17.4. Although the text selection issue seems to come and go

Not that this is necessarily helpful to your situation, but the hyphen thing happens in 17.3 as well. I encounter this a lot when dictating phone cnumbers. 🫤

Using iOS 17.3 on a 15+. Very frustrating that inserting numerals does not work the other ones seem to work for me. If I could help I would but I'm not using the beta thank you to all of you who are reporting these

Thanks so much for reporting, Ash. Hopefully Apple will actually look at these at some point...

It’s one of those situations where numbers matter. Unfortunately the more that bother to report this, the more likely it is to actually be recognized at something that needs to be prioritized. And I say unfortunately, because many people don’t bother. There’s a lot we could do as a community. But this isn’t a group of people known for being a community.

All bugs still appear in second public beta of 17.4. Additionally, Voice Control cannot dictate in Outlook or Gmail apps and others because the message body text field is not labeled in any way for Voice Control to recognize it. This is becoming a serious dealbreaker.
