The Guide DOgs Association for the Blind (UK) are seeking people to attend an event to test a new iPhone app.

The focus of this event will be on a new application that Guide Dogs are looking to launch, which highlights local areas for dog walking and also performs various other functions like acting as a GPS for tracking walking routes. It will be run by a member of the Guide Dogs Events Team as well as the company that are building the iPhone application. Going forward, it is our hope that Guide Dogs can work closely with companies like Apple to ensure that more and more handset devices and applications are VI-friendly, and this is a great starting point.

Details of the session are as follows:

When: Thursday the 16th of September starting at 12.30pm. It will last a few hours.
Where: The Guide Dogs Head Office, Hillfields, Burghfield Common, Reading, Berkshire, RG7 3YG

Tentative Agenda:

  1. Discussion: How do you find using your iphone app - likes and dislikes? Have you, or do you, use any other apps? How easy are they?
  2. Review of the objectives for the app
  3. Talk through the key steps for using the app and how you access them
  4. Start with the basics. Open the app, question - How do you find the main navigation? There are 9 key items in this order, does that work for you as a VI user? Test the following steps: Step 1 - Finding a walk Step 2 - Sending a photo Step 3 - Go outside and log a walk
  5. Brainstorm - what else do you think the app should do to meet your needs?
