Hello,

Some of you might be familiar with DropVox (with a V), an accessible voice recoding app that uploads to Dropbox (with a B).

I'm the developer of DropVox and I'm being forced by Dropbox to rename the app. I'm asking for suggestions for a new name to make it more obvious how my app serves the needs of the vision impaired.

Thanks, Steve

Has both the voice element and still keeps drop box's imagery of casually dropping something off with ease.

VoiceDrop or SoundBites or SoundBytes or SoundBits? I will let you know if I think of any more.
Thanks,

Although the DropVox name is cute and nicely descriptive for this great app, between the trademark issues and the fact that the "V" and "B" are not quite as distinguishable from each other with speech synthesizers as one would like, a new name is a good idea.

I like the suggestion of VoiceDrop since it denotes that one can easily put recordings on DropBox. Other suggestions along the same lines might be:
AudioDrop
SoundDrop
AudioCloud
VoiceCloud
CloudRecorder

People may record audio other than voice, but maybe you consider this mostly a voice recorder. If so, maybe some names like:
NoteDrop
AudioNote
DropNote

Just brainstorming here. Maybe this will generate other ideas.

also, I know this is designed to be a simple no-frills app, but it really would be nice to be able to save recordings on the phone and listen to them for times when one isn't connected.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I should have mentioned that I can't use "Drop" or "Box" in the name, according to Dropbox's ridiculous rules.

For everyone who suggested Voice Drop you should be proud to know that was the original name for DropVox :)

You can't use sound bite as it is a company recently baught out by another but they deliver voice messages via phone as well as other aspects. Its too bad that dropcvox needs to change their name, I like the name. Trademark is very specific, and dropvox and dropbox may be confusing, although I don't find it cdonfusing at all. The app hasn't gotten updated in awhile, because it just works. I use it all the time. Keep up the great work.

Whatever DropVox gets changed to, I suggest that the app description indicate that DropVox is compatible with DropBox. This way, if someone searches for DropBox, they will be presented with your app because of the DropBox name showing in your app description.

Hi! Sorry the name of Dropvox has to be changed, but thanks for letting us suggest alternatives! How about Quicksound? I thought of that because you can quickly start a sound recording with Dropvox. Or does this suggestion sound too much like Quicksand? Well, after the recording there's some syncing to be done, not the same sort of sinking as in quicksand, of course, so maybe my suggestion isn't such a bad idea after all! (Grin).

I like Clare's suggestion of QuickSound and the connotation it carries. I am not sure if it will be construed as a gaming app. How about QuickAudio? I have a feeling that name might be already taken. :(
Thanks,
