Hi. I just have a question about xcode. I am creating an app that can be used with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. I want to use the iOS simulator as my active run destination, but when I click on it VoiceOver announces it as being dimmed. It keeps selecting my iPhone 6S plus as the active run destination. While I want the app to work on the iPhone, I do not want to use it as my active run destination. Does anyone know why VoiceOver would announce the iOS simulator as being dimmed: I am new to app development, so maybe I'm doing something wrong? Thanks.

Universal projects
Hi, When you initially created your project, did you choose the universal project type? If you chose the IPad project type, the IPhone simulator will not be available. Another thing to look into is preferences>downloads. Check to make sure the IOS simulator images are downloaded and updated.
Hi. When I initially started
Hi. When I initially started my xcode project I thought I was just going to make the app for the iPhone, but then decided to select universal so that the app would work on all iOS devices.
However I've had to delete the project and start over several times. My hard drive failed, so I will have to get a new mac. But before the hard drive failed, even if I selected universal, VoiceOver would still announce the iPhone as the active run destination. I don't think I had enough space on the hard drive to download all the xcode files or even update to a newer version.
A new MAC
Try again after getting your new MAC. Not having enough space on your HD for the IOS simulators would force all build output to your phone instead.
if I had known five years ago
if I had known five years ago when I bought my Mac and I wanted to be a computer scientist I wouldn't of gotten a computer with such a small hard drive
Disk space
I think 512GB SSD should work just fine. I have one with Windows 10 in Bootcamp and everything works like a dream.
this is crazy. None of the
this is crazy. None of the iOS simulators have been able to download. My xcode project wouldn't even load and connecting to the internet is impossible. This hard drive is practically dead. I am getting the MacBook Pro with 512 gigabytes. I wante it so bad, but I need to wait until June. I think 512 gigabytes is the highest amount of storage space you can get on a MacBook. The apps I could build... It would be like I was on cloud nine.
