Developping apps as a blind person

Hi all,
So I've recently become interested in developping apps, but as a blind person who uses VoiceOver, I just wanted to get some expert opinions before starting.
Firstly, is it possible to develop an app using VoiceOver alone?
Whats the most accessible way to go about it?

Or should I just scrap the whole idea?

Thanks :)"

Hi. The only one i know who did develope an app was Liam Erven. His twitter is http://www.twitter.com/liamerven He made audio archery. since i haven't seen anything, i'm wonderin if the submission process was a bit daunting as i know it took him multiple tries to get the app in. Or he could be busy which si certainly the case. good luck and here's hoping your app gets aproved and we all test it. :)

No, don't scrap the idea! Xcode, the development environment for the Mac, has become better with Voiceover in the last few years. It isn't perfect, but it is usable now. First, I'd read this guide to the basic layout of Xcode and then I'd look up Apple's Objective-C and app design guides. I'd also look at other guides available, as Apple's own are good, but can get confusing. Google is definitely your friend here.

Once you are ready to start your first app, I'd go through Apple's project tutorial . Where it says to do things like control-drag or use lines and shapes, follow this guide on Interface Builder for Voiceover users.

Good luck!

Go ahead. It's doable and more than one blind people has gone through it and developped applications. I am on my way and will make a podcast soon, if everything goes as it should. However, be aware that developping software, no mather in what platform, is not sonething trivial and one must really work hard to succeed.
