Autocompletion and file type question in xcode

Hello applevis,
Is it just me or whenever we write code in xcode we get autocompletion suggestions in a full blown up popup with voiceover, with all the noise it implies? Like it's brutal. Any way to change this?
Also I looked at online but the threads about this seem outdated, except the .rtf file can we still get a plain text .txt or whatever extension from within xcode when creating a new file? Like... I can always remove the rtf1 thing manually but... that doesn't seem to be particularly elegant.?

PS: on apple developer website, it's easy to find voiceover accessibility resources for ios apps but it seems that there is almost nothing for macos native apps???
