Yet again inflexible laws in the UK cause chaos.

Wasn't sure where to place this so feel free for anyone to move to a different forum. Applies to iOS and windows.
Was wondering if anyone has managed and if so how, to purchase a wet shave razor and blades from Amazon? Due to UK laws you have to provide 2 layers of verification; A selfie which has proved utterly impossible to do on a laptop or iPhone even with sighted help as the person cannot appear in the frame at all or it is rejected. Then a picture of your passport (front and back) I think but never got that far. Despite AI suggestions there seems to be absolutely no way round this verification and it is simply impossible for me at least to complete. So, if anyone has managed it how in the world did you do it. Oh this applies to knives as well.

I'm completely blind. I've taken selfis before. I recommend switching to your back camera. Hold your phone with the back camera about an arm's length in front of your face and take the picture. As for your ID use the back camera again. Place the card on a table in front of you. Feel for the center of the card with your finger, move the iPhone's back camera over your finger then let go, pull the phone upwards but still staying over the same spot. That is to say raise the phone about 6 inches aboove the card and snap the picture. Do the same thing for the other side.

I've had an Amazon account with a card attached for probably 20 years now. I would think they should be able to use that for identification. Do they really need all these photos and such? Apple will verify me just based on that kind of thing.

This is UK only from what i understand it's so pointless, governments shouldn't be requiring this and just use the age on the account or something

Anything is better then this and hope Canada and other parts of the world never do stuff like this

No, despite possible ways round this I discovered there is no alternative. Apparently if you use a credit card sometimes you get a choice to avoid photos. However, this did not work. What really gets me here is that it also says on delivery you need to produce id to confirm your age. So, why can't that be the solution? they turn up your under 18 they don't give you the parcel simples! No we are excluded.

I wonder what would happen if you bought the same things with inno search.

Perhaps using a VPN will help. Maybe go to Amazon in a different country using a VPN and order it that way? You may have to pay a little extra for shipping, but perhaps this is a workaround.

And note: this is not me suggesting ways to break the law. I am merely suggesting ways to work around a problem that a bunch of people who probably can't get out of bed without AI telling them how have created for blind people.

@Oliver. Um... In my current mode, I was having a lot of thoughts about the nature of British shaving after I peeked in this thread. Also an issue for the ladies... I try to be a good hippie about these things, if only for my own peace of mind, but come on. Plus, electric razors can't give that close a shave, and might even nip.
I'm quite mind boggled.

I'm not sure which law requires this. I suspect it is because of the criminal law on accessories and abbettors in England and wales. Note I say England and wales, not the UK, as scotland and Northern Ireland are separate jurisdictions for the purposes of criminal law.

Turning, however, to practicalities: just stick 'em in your online shopping trolley. Or toddle off to the chemist or the supermarket and get 'em yourself. It works splendidly well. all your dreams are made, from a something or other and a raiser blade. WE need a little time to wake up, wake up!
