About a week ago, I informed this community that Oko, the navigation app for the blind/visually impaired and deafblind was no longer accessible across Canada, since they switched to a subscription model. As of this morning, I have an important update on the status of this app. I received the following message from Michael (Micheal), Jansen:
"Hi there,
Our team is currently working on bringing Oko back to Canada except for the state of Quebec. We hope to get an update ready somewhere next week."
Hope this helps,
Michael"
In my opinion, this is fantastic news; deafblind Canadians will once again have the ability to cross lighted intersections safely and independently. I want to extend many, many thanks to Michael and his team for this decision, and I look forward to a long, happy travel experience with this ingenious, life changing app.

Great news!
I didn't get an email, probably because I deleted the app. Not much point in keeping it if it's no longer available, after all. Is there still a subscription?

Except Quebec. Sorry but no! I don't use it but.... Quebec I love my province but can you make just a little bit more efforts please. And how the poster casually say for everyone in canada just forgetting that province..
Political landscapes
I know nothing about the political landscape of Canada. So please forgive my ignorance, but what is the deal with Quebec, why is accessibility not being advocated and/or supported there?
Thanks in advance.
For the same reason that…
For the same reason that spotify for student isn't there I guess. It's nothing to do with accessibility in this case as far as I know.
