Description
For example on the home screen, the user may have a folder with the folder name, the number of apps, and the number of notification badges spoken by VoiceOver.
Previously, it sounded like "Audiobooks folder, 6 apps, 3 new items".
Now it sounds like "Audiobooks folder 6 apps 3 new items".

Disagree about this being a bug
Hello,
To be clear right away, I don't disagree with the premise that some people need a short pause for speech to be understandable, and this should definitely be a setting. I disagree with the fact that the reduced pauses in iOS 27 are simply a bug which should be fixed for everybody. Reduced pauses are one of my favorite features, I don't need a pause between the element and its role/any other extra information. So, just like we can adjust the delay for usage hints, these pauses should also be adjustable. I would be quite disappointed if this resulted in a simple revert to the previous behavior, where pauses were unnecessarily long.
This isn't something I'd call a bug
I do not believe this is a bug. VoiceOver was given quite a speed boost in iOS 27, so things are a lot snappier in terms of announcement intervals and onscreen navigation. I think we just got so used to it being slow that now that it is faster, it seems like a bug.
Agree with other comments - this doesn't feel like a bug
Subject says it all - the shorter pauses the better.
I agree it is a bug
I use TGSpeechBox as English speech synthesizer and Fon TTS as russian speech synthesizer.
The issue is that now russian speech synthesizer doesn't pronounce all words as expected and it's dictionary doesn't work as needed because of this pauses abscence.
Also, when the time is 12:24 PM and there are 2 notifications on lock screen it sounds like 12:242 notifications.
I reported this behavior to TGSpeechBox's and Fon TTS's implementation developer.
Also, I have hints enabled and it is a bit tiring to hear for example books folder 5 apps double tap to open without any pauses.
Interesting that Runa TTS doesn't have this issue and practically all system voices also don't.
If it is not a bug than the setting to change this behavior would be fine and if it is set to the middle position by default.
Is this happening in all the synthesizers ?
Is this happening in all the speech synthesizer in iOS, or just third-party ones? Where are we encountering these issues. That would get really annoying to me if they weren’t pauses between different parts of the voiceover information.
Re: Disagree about this being a bug
I've been looking through the Accessibility menus in settings and there is now a setting for pauses between sentences that you can adjust. Is this in fact a feature and not a bug at all?
My big issue with the new iOS 27 is that the settings don't speed up or slow down the speech synth, none of the synths. It is permanently stuck at 50 per cent. If I adjust it to 70 or 80 it stays the same. It's really wearing using my phone at such a low unresponsive speed. I also can't adjust volume of synthave, and the primary synth is stuck, unmovable. help!
Did you try resetting the voiceover settings or restarting your
Did you try either restarting your phone or resetting the voiceover settings? That’s saved my phones from a lot of weird issues. Ever since that feature became available it’s gotten me out of some weird stuff with voiceover. Yeah that’s pretty bad. It’s not adjusting your sweet treat or your sliders or anything like that although they did kind of mention in the 27 bugs blood post of the equalizer sliders weren’t working so it’s possibly happening with the other sliders as well that those things weren’t working properly. Hope one of those things works for you.
Slow
"i have tried everything. I think the problem may lie with the fact I can't change my primary voice. The primary voice is clearly Daniel but it shows up as Catherine, the Australian synth under primary voice. I want Karen to be my primary voice and I can hear karen when I hit the play button and she's at the speed and volume I've adjusted it to. But somehow Daniel, mascarading as Catherine, kicks back in and Karen isn't allowed to fully take hold as the primary voice. This is so frustrating. I've turned the entire phone on and off, gone into voiceover settings and the read settings under accessibility, but there's no shifting it out äf it's slow mode.
I can, however, shift to a slow karen using the voice setting on the rotor. It's a mess TBH. I'm running an iPhone 16 Pro.
