Description

When the Safari toolbar is collapsed to the bottom of the screen, VoiceOver finds UI elements which are not visually present and consequently do not behave as expected.

Specifically, when you have Safari configured so that the address bar and toolbar are located at the bottom of the screen, you can use the VoiceOver rotor to ā€˜collapseā€™ this so that only the address bar is visually displayed. However, when swiping, you can still locate the controls such as ā€˜Tabsā€™ and ā€˜Shareā€™ which are located on the now visually hidden toolbar. When double tapping on one of these ā€˜phantomā€™ buttons, instead of performing the expected function, the toolbar is expanded.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Ensure that VoiceOver is enabled.
  2. Ensure that in Settings > Safari the toolbar is configured to be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Open Safari.
  4. Place VoiceOver focus on to the toolbar (which should be in its expanded state).
  5. Select and use ā€œCollapseā€ from the VoiceOver rotor's Action menu.
  6. Place VoiceOver focus on to the now collapsed toolbar.
  7. Swipe right/left to move VoiceOver focus through all UI elements on the toolbar.

You should find that VoiceOver will announce that several buttons are present, including Share, Bookmarks, and Tabs.

When double tapping with 1-finger on any of these, you would expect the button to perform its usual function - such as to activate the Share sheet.

What actually happens is that the toolbar returns to its expanded state.
