On the Now Playing screen in the native Music app, VoiceOver speaks UI elements which are not visually present on screen or actionable

Category
VoiceOver Announcements/Feedback
Severity
Moderate

Description

When on the Now Playing screen in the native Music app and navigating by flicking, VoiceOver navigation and feedback will suggest that UI elements from the screen you were on before activating the Now Playing screen are still present on screen. This makes for a very confusing and misleading user experience, as these ‘ghost’ elements are not visually present on screen and cannot be activated, despite what VoiceOver suggests.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Ensure that VoiceOver is enabled
  2. Open the native Music app
  3. Navigate to the Now Playing screen (either by starting to play something new such as a playlist from the Listen Now tab or by expanding the mini player)
  4. Place VoiceOver focus on to the first UI element on the Now Playing screen
  5. Flick right with 1-finger repeatedly to move VoiceOver focus through all UI elements on the screen

You should find that VoiceOver will speak UI elements which are not visually present on screen and are not actionable. Typically, these will be the contents of the screen or tab that you were on before the Now Playing screen loaded.
