The app chosen this month for induction into our iOS App Hall of Fame is Light Detector.
Gaining double the number of votes of its nearest challenger, this would seem to be a very popular choice among the AppleVis community.
Light Detector is easy to use. Just run the application and point your iDevice camera in any direction. Light Detector will transform any natural or artificial light source that it encounters into sound. You will hear a higher or lower sound depending upon the intensity of the light.
The Light Detector app can help blind users to be more independent in many daily activities: at home, point your iDevice towards the ceiling to understand where the light fixtures are and whether they are switched on. In a room, move the device along the wall to check if there is a window and where it is.
You can find out whether the shades are drawn by moving the device up and down.
Away from home, Light Detector can help you to quickly familiarize yourself with new locations.
Our congratulations go to the Team at EveryWare Technologies.
The vote for the next inductee into the Hall of Fame is now open, so please check the list of nominees and vote for the one that you think is most deserving of induction.
