We invite you to join AppleVis this September for coverage of Apple's product announcements and software releases.
Apple has announced an 'awe dropping' media event for September 9, 2025.
At the event, Apple is widely expected to announce multiple new models of the iPhone and Apple Watch; with the possibility that other products may be refreshed as well. In addition, Apple is also expected to announce the release dates for Version 26 of the operating systems for all of its platforms; including for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
You can watch the event live on Apple's Website at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time/17:00 UTC on September 9. Our past experience has been that the live stream on Apple's website, as well as in the TV app, offers audio description. To enable Audio Description on iOS and iPadOS, go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio Descriptions, and be sure the toggle is set to "on." This setting can also be enabled on macOS by going to System Settings > Accessibility > Audio descriptions, and toggling the "Play audio descriptions when available" switch on.
Alex Hall will be returning to AppleVis to offer his take on the event, and as always, it promises to be an entertaining and thought-provoking read. Look for Alex's recap to be posted late evening U.S. time on Apple Event Day. We will also be recording a roundtable about all things 'Awe Dropping' and hope to have that released sometime later in the week. As has been the case with all recent episodes of our podcast, the roundtable will include a transcript.
In addition to our coverage of Apple's September 2025 event, we also have a wealth of content in the works for the upcoming '26' software releases; including our traditional lists of new and fixed bugs in iOS/iPadOS and macOS (augmented, with much gratitude, by reports from members of our community through our Community Bug Program), written and podcast content on what's new and changed in these releases, and perhaps a surprise or two along the way. We hope you'll join us throughout the month and are looking forward to sharing our content with the community.
What are you hoping Apple will announce at the September event? What are you looking forward to in the '26' software releases? Please do let us know by posting a comment.

Hope for the future
That all VoiceOver bugs have been squashed, exorcised, repaired, and otherwise fixed in this release and all future releases of apple's proprietary software, most notably iOS and macOS.
Thank you, that is all. 🙂
I'm hoping for really fat…
I'm hoping for really fat phones. I feel a skinny phone is body shaming and makes my hands look pudgy.
I think we all already know what is coming:
1. iPhone Air - test bed for one half of the foldable coming next year. Screen somewhere between standard and max. A fashion phone (skinny), with various compromises, a single speaker and reduced battery size being the most important for us, though I'm still hoping they slipped in a second speaker.
2. Same old same old with the other phones.
3. Maybe the new iPods Pro 3 which, I have to admit, will probably be a day one buy for me. I think the AirPods Pro, for us with their transparency mode, and general refinement, are the best product apple has created in years. Interested to know what they've improved. The sound could certainly use a touch up, fit too, maybe. I'd like to have a means of plugging the charging block into a 3.5 jack for travel and gaming.
4. Outliers are HomePod Mini, meh, maybe, but I'm not really sure what they will offer as an upgrade. The sound is okay on the originals and doubt that will improve much unless they grow and become non-mini and siri is stil a fool. New apple TV box, again, iterative, you'll probably not notice any difference though there is a rumour of a camera being included which could open the door to some movement based games and FaceTime, of course.
6. Nearly forgot... Apple watches. Same old same old. Wil be a spec bump we won't notice and a gated improvement for the Ultra 3 and 11. Guessing better cell on the Ultra, maybe blood-pressure trend monitoring, IE, it will not give you a full result but can tell you if there is variation over a long period. New colours... There is supposed to be a sleep score coming too which considering it isn't part of the beta, suggests it will be gated to the newer devices. I'd love to have seen a smaller ultra with the rugged casing. I'm A big guy, 6.1, 210, for you americans, but weirdly girly wrists. I blame steroids when I was a nipper.
Skinny wrist Ollie out...
Oh, and a hope, new AirPods…
Oh, and a hope, new AirPods Max... I love mine. If I lost them I'd buy them again, as much as a fool I'd feel for doing so but, latest reports suggest there won't be any upgrades for a long long time. They are magnificent sound, perfect for us with how they connect and disconnect from our phone, untying voiceover without having to turn them off, but they are stil way too expensive. I can imagine a price drop being announced, £399,/$399, which would get them to fly and hopefully get Cooky more interested in a refresh, but I don't hold out too much hope.
Ios 26
I’m still rocking my iPhone SE second generation, and I’m proud of it! I’m very glad that it’s going to support the new update! I’m really looking forward to playing with the music features and other things. It’s going to be a really fun event! I can’t wait for all your coverage. You guys always do an amazing job.
The new iPhones
I had no idea I would be interested in a new phone before the support ended on my current SE3, much less an iPhone Pro. Things in life get suddenly turned upside down sometimes. Anyway, I don't think I'm interested in any of the rest of the new stuff.
Here's Hoping My Current Phone...
Here's hoping my current phone--an iPhone 14--will support the new stuff. Same is true for the Mac, although tbh I'm thinking of just going with iOS once this Mac dies. It'll probably be easier on my parents' pocketbook, and there'll be one less charger to deal with. Having said all that, I am as always looking forward to all things new and awesome. I'm curious about the new design of iOS, though not in the least bit nervous given Apple's accessibility track record.

Any so call AI will only be for 15 pro and up. Anything below, you have a better chance of going to the moon.
iOS 26
I am looking forward to the aple event. I am interested on how VO will behave with Apple's glassy look. I am also excited about the revamped phone and messages apps. Once again thank you for all the applevis team does regarding recaps. I also appreciate the synopsies you provide on the accessibility of iOS releases and subsequent updates.
So appreciated
I agree with Jimmy V and others. You guys do such an amazing job telling us all about the new phones, softwear, and features. Thanks Applevis in advance for all you'll provide for us from the Apple event!
ah you know the new phones is gunna be the same
Only thing that's gunna change I take it is the cameras and the upgrade of the processors. Oh and let's not forget a new, bigger, fatter shiny new phone. What else is new. I feel like apple be slacking in this department by far. Look at how many people are switching over to android now. I swear, I upgraded from my 13 to the 16 and the only things I saw, was the action button, the dynamic island and the capture button. Two out of the three I never use. That's it. I'd love to see apple make a flip version of the phones but you know that's not gunna happen.

Flick phone, will come out next year. Cost $2000 from what I heard.
Re: Ekaj
While your iPhone 14 won't support Apple Intelligence, it will still be able to run iOS 26.
Want vs expect
What I want - Apple announce their challenger to Meta Ray-bans.
What I expect - to be bored to tears hearing about camera upgrades on the new phones. As I took the plunge on an Apple TV recently I expect a new model there (and it has been rumoured). And similarly for iPods Pro.
I feel increasingly uninterested in hearing about new phones, ipads and Macs. When my phone kicks the bucket I will no doubt buy whatever is new at the time but it is really hard to get excited by anything Apple announces. It just feels an exercise in making me feel less good about my existing kit.
Anyway despite that I will no doubt lose myself in all that Applevis will bring in their coverage. As has already been said, you guys are incredible and I still feel so lucky that this site was saved.
mr grieves
Agree. Humans love their shyning toy for destraction. Love when Apple, google and others do this and their fun love it and warship on their alter.
lacklustre apple events
You know what I miss?
I’m just going to say it—Bella the cat’s comments, lol.
A lot of people here hated them, but I personally found them cute.
Plus, I’m a cat person, lol.
As for the Apple event itself, I find myself agreeing with mr grieves.
I haven’t really been impressed since the M1 series came out, and I don’t even own a Mac.
I’m still using an iPhone 12, and it meets my needs.
So until it dies, I’ll probably just pick up whatever’s new at that time.

She went to heaven on 08/21/25. She can not make comments and the people here complain to management.
mostly indifferent to Apple event this year
I'm curious ablout apple watch ultra 3rd gen, and maybe airpods, but that would be it. I love my iPhone 16, and everything I've heard about 17 series phones suggests that the camera bumps are going to be e ven more ridiculously huge, as are the phones themselves. If the 3rd gen apple watch ultra has any significant improvements, other than a bigger display or something equally meaningless, I may upgrade. Same is true for new airpods Pro. If there's a difference that would actually matter in my daily life, I may consider pouncing, but other than those two potential items, I can't imagine purchasing new iToys any time soon.
Might go for a new apple watch and maybe new airpods pro
And maybe airpods max, though debating between those and bose quiet comfort ultra but, other than that though, I won't get anything else I think, as I got a iphone 15 pro last year and fairly recently, last year also upgrated my mac to a newer moddle so yeah that's likely what i'd get. Although for those of you who have the ultra, how much better is the battery life? Say the ultra compared to the 10, as an example? also, I currently have the Apple Watch Series 8. Compared to the newer models, like 10, ultra, etc. how much battery life do these new models have compared to the 8? The eighth if I don’t turn it off at night, it lasts me about a day maybe day and a half two days Without charging.

I’m so sorry to hear about Bella. Losing a pet is always heartbreaking.
I always enjoyed the way you gave Bella a voice in your posts — it added something unique and made me smile. If others didn’t appreciate it, they could easily scroll past, but for me it was part of the charm.
When I was younger, I had pet birds. After the last one passed, my family decided not to have any more pets. Even all these years later, I still carry that feeling — it’s just so hard when you lose them.
My heartfelt condolences — losing a pet is never easy.
