Trace See (iOS, Free)
This App is based on the concept that people with visual impairment can 'see color by sound'. By touching the picture screen with your finger, you can recognize the shape, the shade, the color of what is being photographed, in this order, by voice and sound.
When you want to know the sight in front of you, take a picture. In addition, you can select a picture from your album and use it. If the picture is decided, turn off the Voice Over.
It represents eight colors of Red, Yellow red, Yellow, Yellow green, Green, Blue green, Blue and Purple with the organ "CDEFGABC" scale.
Brown and Beige are represented by the low sound "C" or "B" of piano.
It also expresses the light and shade with the sound of percussion instruments.
It is the App that people who can not see the picture feel the shape and color with sound. By the side, you can enjoy the photograph more directly if the visible person explains the photograph.

The AppleVis Community Inducts Voice Dream Scanner and Microsoft Soundscape into its iOS App Hall of Fame
By AppleVis | June 30, 2019
We are pleased to announce that the 2019 inductees into the AppleVis iOS App Hall of Fame, as chosen by the AppleVis community, are Voice Dream Scanner and Microsoft Soundscape.
First opened in 2011, the AppleVis iOS App Hall of Fame is one of the ways in which the AppleVis community seeks to recognize developers who prioritize accessibility and take it to the next level. Apps in the Hall of Fame can be liberating; empowering; life-changing; provide access to information that sighted users take for granted; or, in some cases, they can just be good fun.
In short, the iOS App Hall of Fame represents the best of the best in accessible iOS applications, as decided by the AppleVis community.
Voting for the 2019 iOS App Hall of Fame induction was held from Tuesday, June 25 to Saturday, June 29, 2019 with twelve apps shortlisted. Each shortlisted app demonstrates what's possible when developers commit to ensuring that all users have the opportunity to access the full potential of their apps, and it was no surprise that all of the shortlisted apps gained significant support from the AppleVis community.
The two apps which ultimately received the most number of votes - and which will be inducted into the AppleVis iOS App Hall of Fame - are Voice Dream Scanner and Microsoft Soundscape.
Is Your Phone Even On? Bridging the Gap Between Blind and Sighted
By Lysette Chaproniere | June 19, 2019
I flick around the screen, double-tapping when I want to select something. As I do so, VoiceOver's speech comes through my Aftershokz headset, which I wear most of the time. That makes me a cyborg, or so I'm told. Nothing is showing on my screen. "Is your phone on?" One of the students on my course at university once asked me, as I called a taxi. "The screen is black." Or as one train manager once remarked, as I was searching for my E-ticket to show him, "That phone doesn't look very awake." Of course, I turned my screen on, so he could see it, once I had my ticket displayed in the app.
It's a strange thing, the iPhone. On the one hand, there's nothing different about the iPhones blind people use. People are often surprised to hear that VoiceOver and other accessibility tools are on every handset. It has given me access to more mainstream services than I had previously. I buy books from stores that don't cater specifically to blind people, and I require no special equipment to read them. Even apps for the blind such as Seeing AI run on the same hardware every iPhone user has.
And yet, the way we use our iPhones is completely different to the way a sighted person would use them. We double-tap where the rest of the world taps once. We flick around the screen, and perform common actions by using a strange thing called the rotor. And as we use our specialist gestures, possibly with nothing showing on the screen, VoiceOver reports back to us. What VoiceOver reads to us isn't necessarily the same as what would normally appear on screen. VoiceOver says "Share button" or "settings button" but the words "share" and "settings" don't appear on screen. Instead, those buttons are represented by icons, and VoiceOver doesn't tell us what those icons are.
All of this can make it rather difficult to communicate about our technology. What if you want to help a sighted friend with their iPhone? You might be an expert VoiceOver user, but if you don't know how the buttons are represented visually, you're going to find it difficult to explain what to do. "Tap the menu button." "What menu button?" And what if you're a sighted person wanting to help a blind friend? You won't be able to tell, from what's displayed on the screen, what VoiceOver calls each icon.

Apple Previews Accessibility Enhancements Coming with macOS Catalina, iPadOS, and iOS 13
By AppleVis | June 4, 2019
Apple has shared details on new and changed accessibility features coming to macOS Catalina, iOS 13, and iPadOS this Fall.
Voice Control
During its keynote presentation Apple showcased a new Voice Control accessibility feature that allows users to fully control Mac, iPadOS, and iOS devices entirely with your voice.
Voice Control will reportedly improve on the existing Enhanced Dictation feature by using the Siri speech recognition engine, so you get the latest advances in machine learning for audio-to-text transcription.
Although Apple included a very impressive demonstration of Voice Control during the keynote, the additional information now made available offers a more complete preview of the feature's capabilities and limitations:
Add custom words: Whether youâre writing a biology report, filling out a legal document, or emailing about a favorite topic, you can add custom words to ensure that Voice Control recognizes the words you commonly use.
Rich text editing: Thanks to rich text editing commands, you donât have to rehearse before you speak. Making corrections is quick and easy. You can replace phrases by name. Try saying âReplace Iâm almost there with I just arrived.â Fine-grained selection also makes it simple to select text. Try saying âMove up two lines. Select previous word. Capitalize that.â
Word and emoji suggestions: If you need to correct a word, thereâs a new interface just for that. Simply ask to correct a word, and youâll be presented with a list of suggested replacements.
Seamless transitions from dictation to commands: Voice Control understands contextual cues, so you can seamlessly transition between text dictation and commands. For example, say âHappy Birthday. Tap send.â in Messages, and Voice Control sends âHappy Birthdayâ â just as you intended. You can also say âdelete thatâ, and Voice Controls knows to delete what you just typed.
Comprehensive app navigation: You can rely entirely on your voice to navigate an app. Comprehensive navigation is provided by navigation commands, names of accessibility labels, numbers, and grids.
On iOS devices and iPadOS, Voice Control will allow you to use your voice to perform gestures, such as tap, swipe, pinch, zoom, press the Home button, and more.
Summary of Announcements from WWDC 2019 Keynote
By AppleVis | June 3, 2019
Apple today kicked off its annual Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) with the traditional keynote presentation.
WWDC is when the world gets a preview of the software coming out of Cupertino in the Fall. We traditionally see the next iterations of Apple's operating systems for all of its main platforms and maybe a new service or cloud-based offering. This year was no exception: iOS 13, macOS Catalina, watchOS 6, and tvOS 13 were all showcased on stage.
Amongst the highlights were a new accessibility feature that lets you control iOS and macOS with your voice; a system-wide dark mode for iOS; the iPad getting its own version of iOS; Apple making it easier for developers to transition existing iPad apps to the Mac; and Taptic chimes coming to Apple Watch.
Below we bring you a summary of today's announcements.
tvOS 13
Apple kicked off proceedings with a preview of âFor All Mankindâ, one of its upcoming TV shows. It's a sci-fi show that explores what would have happened had the space race never ended.
This led in to a very brief look at tvOS 13, which brings multi-user support to Apple TV. This will allow everyone in the home to have their own Up Next list and personalized recommendations and music listening thanks to the addition of profiles.
