Apple has today released iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 to the public, bringing a new way to share files via AirDrop to people not in your contacts, the ability to set alarms for reminders,AirPods Live Translation support to the European Union, and more.
New Features and Changes for Blind, Deaf Blind, and Low Vision Users:
iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 include the following new features for blind, deaf blind, and low vision users:
- Toggles for Arrow Key and Single Letter Quick Nav have been added in Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Typing.
- The transparency of the Lock Screen clock can now be adjusted by double-tapping the Clock widget in the Lock Screen customization interface to reveal a new slider, which we believe may improve its legibility for low vision users.
Resolved Accessibility Bugs
Our experience is that the following accessibility bugs have been resolved or meaningfully improved in iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2:
- VoiceOver scroll gestures once again work to navigate messages in the Mail app.
- Message indicators to the right of iMessages, such as the "Sent with Siri" button, are now correctly labeled.
New Accessibility Bugs
We are currently aware of two new accessibility bugs in these releases:
- The toolbar in the compose window of the Mail app is not detected by VoiceOver. This makes it impossible to attach files to emails, directly access Writing Tools, and perform other functions found in this toolbar. However, they can still be performed using alternative means, such as using the "Edit" rotor to access Writing Tools, and the Files app to attach files.
- When swiping passed the message text field in the Messages app after typing a message, VoiceOver sometimes skips the "Send" button, moving to the top of the keyboard instead.
If you notice any further changes, improvements, or regressions in your use of these releases, please post a comment below with your findings.

How to Update
iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 are available via Over-the-Air Update (Settings > General > Software Update), via Finder on a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, or via iTunes on a PC or Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier.
Before updating, we strongly recommend making a full and complete backup of your device (either locally or in iCloud, depending on personal preference). This will ensure that, in the unlikely event that something goes wrong during the update process, you will have a current backup on hand in case a device restore becomes necessary. Also, if using OTA update, we recommend plugging your device into a power source for the duration of the download/installation process, so as to prevent the unlikely event of your battery going dead during the update.
Comments
VO and notification
Sad it continues. However I am noticingif you send message using hey siri or siri, vo will read the message back without locking on the middle of screen, if you press the side button the bug continues. Long live cats, PS, My prediction might happen iOS 50 will fix vo and notification.
Flash for Alerts
So, what is the difference between this, and the 'LED Flash for Alerts' found in Settings, Accessibility, Audio & Visual?
Production update on a Friday
Production update on a Friday? They must be really confident in the stability of the software!
The flash LED is in the back, close to the camera, or on the opposite side in the latest models, whereas the screen is in the front. The idea is that if one gets a notification, and either has the phone completely silenced or is just deaf, they can still see the screen flash if the phone is facing up, whereas the flash requires having the screen facing down.
How do you mark a reminder as urgent?
I've gone through the reminders app and reminder settings, and I can't find the word urgent anywhere. I turned on the alarm setting but I don't think it'll work on its own.
Why can't I get the word "underwhelming" out of my head?
No surprise here. I am going to stick with IOS 18.
@João Santos
Thank you for the clarification.
@Bruce Harrell
Same for now. I'm running 18.7.2 on my primary, but I will update my backup device to 26.2, as it's already on 26.1, so why not?
@Joe
Reminder app has priority and flag options, which you can try
The mail app and messages come tothink of it...
Voice Over focus in these two apps is generally nnot graite, and for me it's been a lot worse since updating to iOS 26. I don't really understand why an accesibility beta testa hasn't worked with apple to improve or iliminate these bugs, it does making typing things like emails not the easyest thing in the world...
So far, so good
I've updated all of my Apple toys. I'm not 100 percent definite, but I think that TV OS 26.2 may have fixed my issue with Netflix. It hasn't been accessible for a while now. Same is true for the Apple TV app. My phone seems just fine, as does my watch. The watch update took over 2 hours, but everything seems to be back to normal for whatever that's worth. For some reason, American Siri voice 4 still doesn't match on my watch and phone, and since that discrepancy irritates me way more than it should, I'll just keep using the male Irish voice for Siri. Maybe someday, they'll fix whatever is preventing the watch from using the higher quality American voice 4. It's extra frustrating because I seem to recall that iOS 18 was able to use the voice without issue. Oh well. If that's the biggest problem I encounter, then I'll consider myself very lucky indeed.
From my perspective, this upgrade offers no improvements
I'm a Chinese user, and ever since iOS 26 was released, VoiceOver's voices has been terrible. Although it wasn't great on iOS 18 either, everything is relative, and compared to iOS 18, iOS 26 is truly worse. Of course, today's update still maintains this status. So, if you, like me, use Simplified Chinese, you'd better not upgrade to iOS 26. If you've already upgraded, try not to upgrade to 26.1 or 26.2. For me, I had to upgrade because I just replaced my iPhone and couldn't use an older system. Well, that's it. I can't even remember how many times I've copied and pasted feedback emails, but this process will probably have to continue. I won't express any more negative emotions; I wish you all a pleasant experience.
Re: So far, so good
My watch doesn't have any issues speaking through the American Voice 4 as Siri, and the only major version of watchOS that ever ran on it is is 26 since it's the Ultra 3 model that came out 3 months ago, so maybe you need to reset your settings or the whole system entirely.
Do you guys know where the new ringtone is?
Do you guys know where the new ringtone is? I just updated my iPhone SE third generation and there was literally no new ringtone at all and it sounds of haptic settings. I’m guessing maybe it never made it to the final public release? I know this is like super unimportant and the rest of my phone seems to be functioning correctly, but I was just wondering where it is because I like to play with those like just as much as I like to play with the different voices that we have available on voiceover. Just if anybody’s curious, I am using Samantha enhanced on my iPhone iPhone SE third generation and on my primary phone, which is an iPhone 15 I’m using Karen premium.
Appstooe downloads
When you download apps on the appstore or update voiceover is still saying @ @ completed and all that ambiguous stuff
This bug was introduced in IOS 26.1.
sliders fixed
The sliders for voiceover speaking rate and Adaptive audio are now beeing fixed, you can finally adjust them by holding and dragging again.
Apple TV bug is back in a different way
On iOS 26, when using Apple TV with Voiceover, you couldn’tcontinue watching any episode by default. It got fixed on iOS 26.1, however, it’s back again now on iOS 26.2. But this time, continue watching shows/movies is not labeled. Meaning, VoiceOver will skip the name of the show or the movie that you continue watch. ingSeriously Apple what are you doing?
Bug
Please tell me that the email bug has been exterminated at LONG LAST! This is how much I do not want to get bit by this bug. My Iphone downloaded IOS. 26.1, because I guess it got tired of waiting on me, and, its patience was wearing thin. hahaha :-) ;-)
Well, as soon as I found that out, I turned automatic updates completely off! Which, is NOT what I primarily do!
Oh well, at least if it's not fixed in IOS. 26, maybe just maybe, they'll fix it in IOS. 27.
iOS 18.7.3
Apple also released iOS 18.7.3, and it looks like it's still compatible with all devices, though I can't test this since I've already moved to 26 on my iPhone 11. If you don't want to use 26 yet, disable automatic updates and install the 18.7.3 update, though I have no idea how long these will continue to be offered. I suspect it won't be long before they're restricted to the iPhone XS, XR, and iPad 7.
Braille keyboard input fixed
Keyboard echo now works when using keyboard input with an external keyboard. You can now type in braille using the F-D-S and J-KL keys and if set to words, VoiceOver will announce the word after you press space.
Nice to see this bug finally fixed.
iOS18.7.3
I have also disabled automatic updates, and I am waiting for iOS18.7.3 to be announced as a security update; is this the right term? The iOS26.2 version is displayed prominently on my screen, but I shall hold off updating until 2026.
Re: iOS 18.7.3
I always have automatic downloads turned off under the software update section. Been doing this for years. Apple now likes to have the older builds of iOS be at the bottom of the screen, under the newer build. So, if you were seeing the update to iOS 26.2, keep scrolling down, and if the 18.7.3 is released, it will likely be there.
Best of luck!
Sidenote: I sure hope they fix the weird little bug in 18.7.2, where we can no longer search for emojis...
Addendum to my above post
I am not seeing 18.7.3 as an update for my SC 2022. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. Lol
@Brian, iOS18.7.3
I have long followed the same practice like you. And yes, I see no iOS18.3.1 on my SE 2022 (3rd gen.) either. Let's wait and see what happens. Perhaps they're still working on it and might release it sometime on a weekday in the coming week(s).
Correction of version no. inside. My apologies.
Siri American Voice 4 on Apple Watch Ultra 3
I have the ultra 3 as well; the high quality Siri voice 4 worked fine on my original Apple watch ultra, but has never worked on this watch; it's the older, low quality version of the voice no matter what I do. I'm a bit hesitant to attempt resetting the watch because I'm not sure what it would do to the cellular connectivity component. I don't want to risk messing that up. Otherwise, I'd happily attempt resetting the watch. I like the male Irish Siri, but would really prefer the improved American voice 4 that my phone started using when I upgraded to iPhone 16. If there are any tricks I can try, I'm all for doing so. In the mean time, for the sake of consistency, I'll just use the only other voice that sounds pleasant to me.
very frustrating update
There were two bugs that I wanted fixed:
One is voiceover lagging when switching between different voices. The other is you cannot swipe with three fingers up and down to switch between pages in the control center, you have to use the page slider at the right of the screen. Both of them aren't fixed, so frustrating, really.
And I don't get any answer whatsoever from apple accessibility when I report an issue. At least I'd get an automated mail about either my report being delivered to necessary teams or not being able to reproduce the issue, but now there's nothing, which makes me not want to report to them anymore and I just deal with the bugs as I update, hoping that they'll be gone sooner or later
How to attach files
Hi how do you attach files through the files app? I know you can go to a file and say email a file but then how do you attach other files if you want to attach more than one? I used to go to the Toolbar but now that’s not working.
Maria
Hi,
To do this from files, first make sure all of the files you want to send are in the same folder. It's just easier this way.
Next, from the top left of the screen, swipe right until you find the 'More' button.
Double tap that, then double tap on 'Select'.
Now, double tap on all the files you want to send, each one should end with the word, selected. After you have selected all of the files, navigate toward the bottom of the screen, and there will be a series of controls. Look for 'Share', and double tap that.
Finally, swipe through all of the options until you find 'Mail'.
This will open up the email dialogue, and I think you will have it from here. :-)
HTH.
Watch and VO lagging on phone
Notice that the bug continues where if you open watch on phone VO laggs. Still there, is not as bad as before but continues. You need to not touch the phone for 5 seconds to be able to make sure VO does not lagg anymore. Long live cats.
Voice over and camera lock incompatibility
As you know, the camera could be turned on and turned off by sliding on the lock screen. Even though I turned off this setting in the camera settings, the camera turns on when I slide on the lock screen. I won't know if this is due to voice over. but I definitely don't want the camera to open from the lock screen.
External keyboard still not working
The text editing feature still doesn't work in third party apps such as Textastic when using an external keyboard.
@Brian
Hi Brian.
This might be off topic, but I'M wondering if iOS 26.2 or any earlier version allows us to use two iPhones having the same phone number? If such a thing was possible, I'd be tempted to get a second working phone. Otherwise, I'd be contemplating having to forward calls from one phone to the other each time I wanted to switch.
Know anything about this?
Bruce
I don't know the details, but I have heard that if you have two phones with eSIM capability, and you have an eSIM with multiple uses on it, you can do this. You'll have to do some research on your own to dig deeper into it however.
