Apple has today released iOS 17.4.1 and iPadOS 17.4.1 to the public.

The release notes simply state that these updates include "important security updates and bug fixes."

As these updates have likely been released to address a small set of specific issues, our expectation is that they do not contain any accessibility changes for blind and low vision users; however, if you notice any changes, improvements or regressions in your own use of these releases, please post a comment below with your findings.

iOS and iPadOS 17.4.1 are available via Over-the-Air Update (Settings > General > Software Update) via Finder on a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, or via iTunes on a PC or Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier.

i think we need to raise a report explain all problems in voice over, now we're struggling to solve problems not look forward for new features in VO itself, is really apple don't care of accessibility like before? it was one of the competitor's advantage in market for us.

Hey everyone,

I’ve noticed that ever since upgrading to iOS 17.4.1, my phone has been overheating. I’m not sure if any of you have experienced the same thing, but it’s becoming quite uncomfortable, especially when I’m using Safari or texting, but honestly, it happens almost every time I use an app. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Hi! Yeah, I’ve done that already. It seems like the culprit was WhatsApp; it was draining a lot of battery in the last 24 hours. I’ve turned off background updates now, and it looks like the phone isn’t heating up as much. But I’ll need to figure out what’s causing this. I’ve always had background updates on, and this has never happened before. Thanks!

There's no place for that here. If they didn't care, there would not be an accwessibility phone number, and there would not be Voice-Over.

the sliders for pitch and WPM now read correctly with VoiceOver. glad this bug is finally gone!

Go through some of the recent posts about all the bugs that have been with us for months and even years, and then I'd love to have you back here with a more reasonable explanation.

Hi. I updated my phone last week but I believe I've discovered a problem with this. It's my first experience with VO Recognition on iOS though, so I may be missing something here. But just last night as I was composing a group reply to a text that was sent to me and some neighbors, the messages app seemed to go bananas on me. By that I mean there seemed to be extra things in the app such as a microphone icon. This morning I went in and turned off some of the VO recognition for this app, but is this a bug or just how it's supposed to work? In any case, these new recognition features seem pretty awesome.

Ya, not sure why it would have gotten turned on, but that's what the screen recognition does. It's really for an app that has a bunch of unlabeled buttons and things like that.

All good now. I powered down my phone, then waited and powered back up. The messages app seems to be back to the way it was before I enabled the new recognition features. Thanks.

I used my mac to update it. No change observed so far.
Although since the innitial build 21e36 or maybe even before that I'm not sure, I'm having this bug that when I press the power button or raise to wake on and am on the lock screen, voiceover take quite awhile to be responsive, about 2-3 seconds. After if you let it locked and again go the lock screen between 10-40 seconds it seems to remember that so it doesn't take that extra time. It's present even after reboot of the iphone while on 21e36 and I hoped it would have been corrected on 221e37 but it still seems to be present. iPhone 14 base model bought 4 months ago brand new. The bug can be annoying as getting just the time sometimes ttake more, time, than it should, but since I have an Apple Watch I don't care much.

Hello,
Apparently in 17.4 or something the option to automatically install updates was checked without me knowing and iOS 17.4.1 was installed last night without my permission.
This morning, I've had my device unlocked, plugged in, and connected to the internet for a while, but Eloquence has vanished. I don't see it in the voice selection list at all. Last night Eloquence was working just fine.
Does anyone else have this problem?

This forum probably needs an FAQ thread... or how about everyone just search for relevant posts and useful answers already posted instead of posting their questions immediately?

@Enes Deniz totally understand your frustration of why this question keeps reappearing, and for the actual bug itself.
@Brandon If you haven't found it already just reboot your phone, it's been there for awhile and this fix always work, at least for me. Then you will get all your voices back.
