Apple has today released iOS 17.1.2, iPadOS 17.1.2, and macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 to the public.

The release notes for all updates are simply listed as “security and bug fixes.”

As these updates appear to have been released to address a small set of specific issues, our expectation is that they do not contain any accessibility changes for blind and low vision users; however, if you notice any changes, improvements or regressions in your own use of these releases, please post a comment below with your findings.

iOS 17.1.2 and iPadOs 17.1.2 are available via Over-the-Air Update (Settings > General > Software Update) via Finder on a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, or via iTunes on a PC or Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier.

To install macOS Sonoma 14.1.2, choose System Settings from the Apple menu, select General in the table, click Software Update in the scroll area, and click the Update Now button to begin the update process. If other updates are available, you can click "More info" to see details about them and select specific updates to install.

If you haven't done so already, I would recommend restarting your phone and checking again, as I've found a few times in recent releases that not all of the available voices are listed after updating iOS. A restart has always resolved this for me.

I'll probably jinx it by writing this post, but I redownloaded the female siri spanish spain voice yesterday morning, and as of now, it hasn't deleted itself yet. I won't declare it fixed by any means, but perhaps we're headed in the right direction.
