Apple has today released iOS 12.1.2 to the public.
According to Apple's release notes via Mac Rumors, iOS 12.1.2 contains bug fixes for eSim activation on the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max--as well as fixes for cellular connectivity in Turkey on those same devices.
iOS 12.1.2 includes bug fixes for your iPhone. This update:
- Fixes bugs with eSIM activation for iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max
- Addresses an issue that could affect cellular connectivity in Turkey for iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max
Mac Rumors also notes that iOS 12.1.2 is only available on iPhones; iPad and iPod Touch devices continue to run iOS 12.1.1.
At the time of posting, we are not aware of any accessibility-related changes in iOS 12.1.2. If you do notice any accessibility-related changes in iOS 12.1.2, please post a comment letting the community know your experiences.
iOS 12.1.2 is available via Over-the-Air Update (Settings > General > Software Update) or via iTunes on a Mac or PC.
Before updating, we strongly recommend making a full and complete backup of your device (either in iTunes or iCloud, depending on personal preference). This will ensure that, in the unlikely event that something goes wrong during the update process, you will have a current backup on hand in case a device restore becomes necessary. Also, if using OTA update, we recommend plugging your device into a power source for the duration of the download/installation process, so as to prevent the unlikely event of your battery going dead during the update.

Voice Over Safari Problem
Is the Safari cursor problem still there in iOS 12.1.2. I was warned in time so I didn't uppgrade to iOS 12.1.1. Is it safe to uppgrade to iOS 12.1.2? I have an iPhone 8. For which iPhones is it safe to uppgrade without Voice Over cursor problems in Safari?

I would probably wait till 12.1.3 comes out. Usually the more major updates come out with versions that don't have a second point in the title. Hope that makes sense. I am not sure the Safari bug affects everybody. I am running the latest update and have not noticed any problems. At this point, it's really more a roll of the dice.

Hi all!
Has anyone else had this issue? I haven't gotten the update yet. I sut the device off & rebooted. My ipad is wifi only. I know a rep told me when I called about an unrelated issue that it could take a few weeks for it to reach my device. But, it usually reaches mine right away. So, it's making me a bit worried.
Is there a way to get the update withou itunes? The only computer we can put it on is someone's work computer. But, that's not feasible because a: the computer doesn't talk, & b: trying to put anything on or get into the computer is like trying to break into Fort Knox. Since it's a work computer.
Like for example, could I backup to Icloud then try for the update? Or should I not do anything at all. At least for the time being? Any help is appreciated.

My iPad has been running IOS. 12 with no issues. And I have gotten updates via OTA. With no issues also.
VoiceOver and double tapping issues
I recently updated to the newest IOS and now have noticed that when double tapping an any item, the first set of double taps don't work.
For example, let's say you want to open TuneIn pro. You have it in your folder labeled music or you go to the page it's located on. Once you find the app and double tap on it, Voice oVer says TuneIn Radio but doesn't open it. You then have to double tap it again to get it to respond. This has happened with more then just one app. When I had IOS 12.1.1 this was not a problem. I have also spoken to Apple's accessibility team and the engineer right away insisted that I do a restore.
For one problem? Really? I could see if the phone crashed or gave me several errors. But it hasn't.
Just for an experiment I even took off my screen protector and I still got the same issues.

I also experiencing that issue, more likely when voice over are on, I notice it every apps I launch. Resetting my iPhone 7 didn't resolve the problem. I also report it to apple.
can no longer lock focus in camera app
more appropriately, one can no longer tell whether the focus is locked or not. always breaks something in each and every new release, why is that? i remember the good old days when everything just worked, i was very happy with my devices and recommended apple products to everybody.

there is a work around for those who are interested. switch to video mode and back, vo should revert to the old behavior until you remove the camera app from the app switcher.

I'm not sure if this is only happening to me, or whether anyone else is seeing this behaviour. any solutions, if there are any, would also be appreciated
since updating to IOS 12.1.2 on my iPhone XS, following a power off, the phone will not boot up unles it's on a wireless charging pad or connected to power via a cable, when connected to power by either method, the phone boots up as normal. anyone else seeing this please?.

On further investigation this seems to be a change rather than a problem.
when my XS was new and using any IOS up to IOS 12.1.1, to boot the phone up all I had to do was press and immediately release the power button. after updating to 12.1.2, this seems to have changed to the method I'm used to seeing, where the power button needs to be held in for about 3 or 4 seconds.
I guess this is a better method as it would prevent most cases of a powered off phone being accidentally booted up when in a bag or pocket.
Issues in navigating various settings
Navigation in various Settings option seems to have become rather tidious. For instance, in Screentime Settings, while in the day or week details, VO stops responding after a few flicks to the right from the Back button.

I just got this update yesterday, which is rather odd now that I think about it. I say that because I seem to recall a recent update to iOS that was supposed to fix these same issues. In any case, I updated yesterday when I was prompted to do so and thus far it's been smooth sailing on my end.
