Little Ben, Haptic Feedback

Category

Description of App

With LittleBen you can send haptics feedback in relation to time, in the background and with different modalities, among them:
Why would I find it useful:

Situations in which you need to know how much time has passed and you have difficulties to see the watch screen (Public speaking, Work, While you are walking, While you are swimming)
You can save the sessions to see the number of minutes/hours consumed.

- Features:
*Minute counter / Hour counter: A number of minutes with haptic signals will be sent. For example, if you start the session when 3 minutes pass your Apple Watch will vibrate 3 times and so on until you stop it.

*Hour Chime: When an hour is reached you would receive the
number of the hour in a haptics amount. For example, at 5 o'clock you will receive 5 vibrations and so on until you stop it.

*Specific mode of minutes/hours to count.

- Options:

You can change the type of haptic to be very soft or stronger
You can select haptics manually to start dozens (In the case of 12 minutes or 12 hours the 10 will be a specific haptic unlike the unit)

I use this app. It isn’t perfectly accessible, but it works for what I want it to do. It isn’t all too fidly.

I actually had the wrong app and I don’t know how I could have been so mistaken. I was thinking of Cuckoo Clock wich is an iPhone app that isn’t my kind of thing, but this app is brilliant. Because I have been looking for an app like this for ages and now that there’s this app I am happy. It actually vibrates every hour when I am using hourly chimes. Thanks for posting this app.

By Sabrina on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 - 17:57

Okay, as of version 2.0 this app seems completely inaccessible. Can you test this and see if I am right? I hope I am wrong.

By Tarja on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 - 17:57

For me it was still accessible two days ago when they updated it but now it is inaccessible. :( I just contacted with the developer and I am looking for answer now.

By Sabrina on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 - 17:57

This sucks as it is one of a kind of the app store and now I cannot use it. I left a review on the app store and said that the app, after 2.0, is NOT accessible. The app was so good. And I loved the hourly chimes and cannot ask a seighted person to actually set it every single time because this would give my staff a terrible headache. I wish there was more apps like this but I could search and see if I can actually find this. I will keep you updaated, Tarja.

By Sabrina on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 - 17:57

Have you got an answer from the developers? If they have answered, pleast keep me informed.

By Sabrina on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 - 17:57

I guess the fancy animations and the crown thing mixed with the swiping commands that is what is making it inaccessible, because when I load the app, the screen is completely blank. When I force touch the screen, it lets me select feedback mode, but if I force touch again the whole screen goes blank again and I cannot do a thing. I have played around a lot to make sure if this is accessible, but I cannot seem to find a way to use this for blind or visually impaired. I had my sighted staff try this too but she didn’t understand how to do so we will see if she made it do hourly chimes. Also they seems to have renamed it to hourly cuckoo wich doesn’t matter. If the app would just work I would be satisfied. But it doesn’t. It is a completely new app. I have added the accessibility rating as I saw fit because this app is not mostly accessible any more so I cannot say it is. My staff tried to actually turn it on for me but she couldn’t. We will see if this works but AI cannot keep thejm fixing this because it will drive them all into insanity because of the fact that I have to allways explain how to do this. It is really annouying. I tried turning off chrown navigation on VoiceOver but this did not work either, because when I twist the chrown, nothing happens, so I cannot do it that way either. I have tried double tap and hold, then sweep left, the way I do on my iPhone for some apps but for some reason that doesn’t appear to do anything that II can see so this is not the answer either. I will try this thing with getting help but as I said this will not be an answer because she has to turn it on every time I forget to recharge my watch or stuff because when it dies, you will have to restart the whole thibnng, not that I ever do it that way on purpose, but sometimes this happens and also this app takes a lot of battery so I have to recharg3e it twice, but we will see how this works now.

I left a review and they answered and wondered what wasn’t working. If we all put accessibility in our reviews and explain the problem, I do believe they would make it accessible again. I mean, I got responce, and they asked what wasn’t working and this is hard for me to explain so maybe we need to write things in reviews in the app store.

By Sabrina on Saturday, March 3, 2018 - 17:57

I wrote a review and got an answer but I found it a little too late so now I have contacted them directly. His is because I want to see if they are willing to make the app accessible.
I cannot seem to find any relyable way to use this now. Once again, this was a really useful utiliy.

By Tarja on Saturday, March 3, 2018 - 17:57

I wrote also to them but haven’t got any replies.

I actually used to use this app. It definitely could have been better, but it still did everything it advertised. Now, I can no-longer figure out how to use it. There is no-longer a minute counter or hourly chimes. Am I missing something or is it completely broken?

By Tarja on Thursday, May 3, 2018 - 17:57

Yes, unfortunately it isn’t accessible anymore.

By Rafal on Thursday, May 3, 2018 - 17:57

I've purchased this app, it is paid right now. Hopefully, I got a refund because I don't want to pay for something that can't be used.

By Rafal on Thursday, May 3, 2018 - 17:57

Dear Applevis community members,
Please review the information concerning price of the application. Little ben is now a paid app and costs eur 1,09.
Thanks!

By Tarja on Thursday, May 3, 2018 - 17:57

I edited it.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

I have been looking through the entire watch app store and cannot find any apps similar to this. This sucks because it was a good tool before. But now it is completely. useless and the developers don’t seem to care so I guess this is goodbye.

By Sean Terry on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

I loved the app very much when it was accessible. I love being able to tell the time every 15 minutes. But since they don’t seem to want to make the app accessible anymore, I guess I’ll just have to delete it from my watch.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

Believe it or not; I have figured ths app out. It is a bit difficult before you figure it out but it is still useable, at least for me.

By Quinton Williams on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

Please do tell?

By Sabrina on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

Okay, to start with, when you open the app on your watch, you will be presented with an empty screen. Force touch on the screen until it says feedback mode. Double tap this, go past everything and then press ookay. Now, you will see some things. I think you will be on the minute thing. Just tap where it says minute and it should start. To stop just tap there again. Now we come to changing the mode. Focus VoiceOver on the first element, i.e swipe left until you cannot swipe any more. With that on focus, turn the digital crown forward. Do it slowly. It will go from minutes to hours to cuckoo. I haven’t found a way to get out of the custom time range but just restart the app. Can you describe for me what pile up means?

By Sabrina on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

Also, make sure voiceover has said started before letting your watch lock.

In reply to by Sabrina

Your instructions seemed to have worked. Thanks again.

By Quinton Williams on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

I think pileup is when the app continuously adds minutes and hours when you use the counters.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

I find it tricky with cuckoo. Does that work for you? I know the minutes and hours do but what about cuckoo? I think I mess things up.

By Tarja on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

Thank you so much. I was able to use cucko as well with your instructions.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

How in the whole wide world did you. manage to get cuckoo to work? I know it was me writing the instructions but this is the feature I want and I cannot make it work.

By Tarja on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

I just turned the Digital Crown lots of time. It needs patience.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

Should I double tap somewhere too or just leave it open?

By Sabrina on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

Okay, I am fully aware I wrote the tutorial and I can start the minutes and hours but I just cannot start cuckoo. I find the cuckoo on the crown, but then I tap the center of the screen and it says started and then I just see it says cuckoo and it says the hour on the screen but then I wait and it isn’t working.

I've basically given up. I can't figure out how to stop it and buttons are almost non-existent. I just hope that either this developer fixes the accessibility issues or that someone else is able to develop a similar application.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

I know how to start things and stop things. I can make both the minute and hour counts to work, but I just cannot find out why the cuckoo cuckoo works. When using hour count, for example. I turn my crown to the hour chime count and double tap on the thing where it says hour image and it works. But for some reason, this does not work at all with cuckoo. I am going cuckoo of this thing.

By Tarja on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

Yes, now I’m having same problem. Maybe we should tell about it to developer. Maybe they can fix this problem.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 - 17:57

I will not give this up but it is highly frustrating wich means I will let it rest a couple of months and keep checking for updates.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 - 17:57

It did not work on my series zero but it works on my series three.

By Quinton Williams on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 - 17:57

Ever since watch os 6, there is now a built in chimes feature which makes this app pointless. The chimes can be found in the accessibility settings of the watch and the watch app. Save your money for a nice cup of coffee.

By Sabrina on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 - 17:57

In this app you can actually have it chime the hour, for example seven times at seven o'clock.

By Sabrina on Saturday, October 3, 2020 - 17:57

There has been an update and it now wonks. I have had it for three days. you don't have to fiddle with the crown any more.

By Tarja on Saturday, October 3, 2020 - 17:57

Thank you for letting me know. I’m happy to use it again. I also updated the information about the app.
