MacUpdate Desktop

Description of App

MacUpdate Desktop is the best way to automatically keep all the software on your Mac up-to-date. The Mac App Store only updates apps that you bought from that storefront which is likely a fraction of your apps. MacUpdate Desktop updates everything on your Mac with a single click, keeping your Mac running more smooth and problem free.

MacUpdate Desktop also connects to your web browser allowing you to automatically Install apps directly from the MacUpdate.com website. This means you no longer have to download files from the web browser. Desktop will clean up the installation afterward and keep the apps up-to-date in the future - far better than what a browser can offer!

When you purchase a MacUpdate Desktop Membership, you'll not only have full access to the simplest way to keep your Mac up-to-date, but will enjoy many other member only features as well. A fully-functional 10 day trial is available to all users. You may use MacUpdate Desktop on up to five (5) Macs with just one membership.

Accessibility Comments

After seeing VoiceOver mentioned in the release notes for the latest update, I thought that this was worth a punt. And, so far, it seems to be fully accessible. Highly recommended for those who want to be sure that they are running the latest versions of software.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

The link to find out about pricing for the membership if it is really necessary brings up an empty html area in my sfari browser. I will though give this software a try and see how this goes. I often forget to check for new softwares as I don't launch some of my softwares for months at a time.
having gotten this app it's good. I have not paid for a membership yet but it is $20 a year which is not bad at all. I did a podcast which should be out soon. Follow @tffppodcast on twitter and you will see when it's out. You can even leave comments and they should be imported in to the correct post. Same with facebook.

The current version (5.2.3) has a conflict with VoiceOver on Mavericks, which causes it to freeze as soon as you open the application. You then have to force quit to kill it. If I disable VoiceOver and then start this application, wait a couple of minutes for it to scan for updates, and then restart VoiceOver, I am able to browse and install any updates that it has found. The developer has been told of this conflict, so hopefully we'll see an update soon that fixes it.
