Accessibility Comments

I was able to quickly connect to my iPhone and use this to enter text using my Mac’s keyboard. So far, the only niggle is that I have not been able to access the control in the app’s settings to create a keyboard shortcut that will switch text entry to my iPhone. For now, this means relying on the menubar icon. This is not a major problem, but it would be great to switch via a keyboard shortcut, so please let me know if you find an accessible way to set this up. It’s also worth noting that you will need to pay $7 to unlock the full version, which allows you to connect to more than 1 device and removes the daily limit on the amount of text that you can enter. I’ve still to decide whether this should replace Type2Phone on my Mac.

Usability

There are some minor accessibility issues with this app, but they are easy to deal with.

Hello. I was wondering if you have figured out a way to simulate a double tap or press of the home button with this app. Thanks. :-)

sounds nice, but I think I will stick with type to phone as I only have 1 device and I get no limit on how many texts I send per day. It's a good alternative though if you have an iPhone, pad and other devices though. Take care.

Hello!

Since you have both apps what is your favorite in terms of useability and accessibility?
I am thinking of buying one of the apps, but can't decide the best regarding the areas mentioned above, so any thoughts are apriciated.

Best regards Thomas

Hi all,

both 1Keyboard and Type2Phone cost 9.99 USD or EUR and both support connecting to multiple devices between which you can switch using customizable keyboard shortcuts.

However, Type2Phone has more features, supports more iOS keyboard shortcuts, and is fully accessible. It allows you to define many keyboard shortcuts to perform various actions in iOS, imcluding almost all VoiceOver commands, missing only some extraordinary ones, such as tap and hold used for dragging items or showing some pop-up menus, although, what I am missing here is a shortcut for VoiceOver item search normally available using VO + F.

It supports a lot of keyboard layouts for different languages, and has an optional abbility to automatically disconnect when idle and reconnect, in case you want to safe battery while not using the Mac keyboard to typpe to your device.

What I find quite handy about Type2Phone is you can optionally configure that it switches between using the keyboard for your device or your Mac just by switching to or out of the Tyúe2Phone application using the familiar Command + Tab.
