This is a fantastic app which allows you to control switches from your phone for example turning on TV/stereo/heater etc. It can also be paired with motion detectors so when you enter a room the lights can come on or radio can come on. You can also set rules for example 10 minutes after you leave, your home theatre is switched off. Then when you leave the house you don't need to remember to switch off your TV etc. Wemo will do it for you. Really just use your imagination.on what this could be used for.The app can also be linked into ifttt which stands for if this then that. this hooks into loads of services and can be set up so lets say the temperature drops below -2 degrees, wemo can switch a heater on to avoid frozen pipes. Or say you get a DM on twitter, a lamp can come on in your home. You could set it up so when someone enters your home you get a text message. There are hundreds of triggers and events. The switches and motion sensors are available from apple store at £40 switch only and £80 switch + motion sensor. VO now works beautifully with this app and even tells you the current status of your switches e.g. while away from home. Did you switch the TV off? This product is so versatile so let your imagination wild on it. What in your home needs automating.

Hi. The switches mentioned in this app description, are they meant to replace a conventional wall power outlet?

Hi, You don't have to replace

Hi, You don't have to replace the wall outlet plate. This is a wall whart which you plug into the outlet then plug your lamp, TV, Iron or whatever into. Takes 10 seconds to install then 3 mins to run the app and connect from your phone. I guess they should say that in the app description. No building contractors required :)

Yep, you can use as many devices as you choose. You can even set them up only to work on the wireless network therefore must be at home or to have access from anywhere in the world via cellula or wi-fi over the internet.

If anyone does buy these, I

If anyone does buy these, I should add to set up for the first time, what you have to do is plug the Wemo in then come off your wireless network and the wemo switch will appear as a new wireless network which you need to sign into. once that is done, the app automatically launches and guides you through setting the switch up. So simple. but if you can't see the instructions you need to know to sign into the wemo as a wireless network for the first time to get it set up. After that, all in the app.
