Say Color

Category

Description of App

Speaks the name of the nearest color in the center of a camera preview pane using speech synthesis. Can also show and speak the three RGB 255 numbers.

If you lock the exposure and color balance (using the lock icon button in the upper right) while aiming at something medium neutral gray under your current scene's lighting, the color naming scheme will be more accurately centered in the RgB gamut.

I downloaded this app after reading this post but didn't have much hope since other color identifiers have been bulky and didn't work very well at all. I just launched Say Color and went into my closet and turned on a light. I have shirts that are the same style in different colors but I've never taken the time to mark them. I know what colors I have, just not which is which. This app nailed them! I tried a bunch of different items I already knew the color of and it was correct most of the time. I'm going to try that lock thing since the app seemed to have difficulty with nature type colors. It kept saying a green shirt was brown for example. You don't have to take a picture or press a button. Just swipe a finger back and forth to hear the color text. I am very very impressed and happy!
