Other Comments

It's quickly becoming my preferred choice for Chat GPT. It's remarkable how it can tackle current events and provide answers that almost resemble those of GPT-4, despite being built on the GPT-3.x platform. It's possible that the company has implemented some new techniques alongside GPT-3.x. I find it particularly satisfying to witness how it sources its information and identifies the specific parts of the answer. This feature gives me a greater sense of control over the information I wish to utilize.

I'm in Canada and I was able to download this app with no problems at all. Try again and see if you have better luck. It should definitely work in Canada.

When double tapping the "Ask a question by voice" button the VoiceOver speech and sound goes away, only the haptic feedbacks remain.

Maybe it's just me, but when I try to ask a question by voice, not with Apple's dictation, but with the built-in "Ask a Question by Voice" option, I get the silent treatment.

No VoiceOver speech, nothing.

I have to trigger Siri to get VoiceOver back up and talking again.

Sometimes that doesn't even work, so not only do I have to invoke Siri, but I also have to go to the home screen and toggle VoiceOver off and back on again before I can even get speech.

So, for me, using the built-in "Ask a Question by Voice" is useless.

Is that why you didn't demonstrate that in the podcast?

Edit: wrote this before I saw the previous comment

Thank you so much for this podcast Thomas this application, brings my AI experience to a whole Nother level, and is so much more quick with the answers than it ever was for me using Microsoft or open AI
I’m currently doing quite a bit of research so this is a very useful tool for me.
I also made the mistake of using the ask you a question by voice button and lost voice over audio. I went to the home screen, but could still not toggle voiceover on no matter what I did, so I needed to restart the phone. This should be fixed on the part of the app developer, but I don’t mind not using it, generally, I have found dictation to be better on the iPhone unless it is a recognition provided by google
I am in Canada as well, and did not click on the link in this post, but just search in the App Store myself, and found it without too much difficulty

I want to say thank you to everyone who pointed out that using the "Ask a Question by Voice" feature isn't suitable for VoiceOver users. I appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I agree that it's a problem that needs to be fixed because it's hard to get out of that situation, and it's a warning to avoid using it.

that seems to be a bug in the app. Many apps that use the microphone also do the same thing, especially found that in certain recorder apps. There’s no real good workaround. I know it can be done, cause some record apps, allow voiceover to come through. The silent treatment also affects external Bluetooth connected devices.

I can echo what everyone else is experiencing it doesn't work for me either. the only workaround I have found is use the standard dictation and avoid using the ask a question by voice.

By kool_turk on Monday, July 24, 2023 - 03:16

The problem must be in the app itself because it works in the official Chat GPT app.

Voiceover comes through the phone speaker, but at least you don't get the silent treatment.

Curious, will they support GPT 4 soon? Just hope they will be able to have access to the latest version.
