iMove around

Category

Description of App

iMove supports independent mobility of visually impaired people.

By using iMove, you can:

  • Know the address where you are;
  • Know points of interest are around you (e.g. schools, stations, pubs, etc.);
  • Record speech notes associated to your location. A speech note will be played every time you will be close to the place where it has been recorded;
  • Customize the messages. For example, you can choose to be warned about the address where you are, the current orientation and speed, about speech notes, nearby points of interest, etc. ;

Enable the "Notify me" functionality to be alerted even when the app is not running.

Notes
iMove is designed to be fully accessible with VoiceOver.
By enabling "Notify me", iMove will use the location services while running in background. Continued use of GPS dramatically decreases battery life.

iMove is developed by EveryWare Technologies with the sponsorship of Retina Italia Onlus.

On first peak, Imove is truly impressive. I learned about spots around me I didn't know existed though I've walked past many of them in my 4 years at this address. No other orientation type app has given me this much information. When double tapping a particular location, the address is then given but does not stay on the screen. In situations where there may be more info available through a web page, I would like the ability to access that information, perhaps tie-ins with Facebook, Foursquare, etc. Now that the weather allows me to use bare hands again, I'll run it through some tests; it's difficult to activate an Iphone with numb fingers and impossible with the kind of gloves anyone but a fool would wear in minus 30 degrees, and that, gentle reader, is with no wind!
Hello, please does Imove anounce the street names, house numbers, businesses etc. when you are passing them? I know Ariadne does that, but it does not say the house numbers in rural area for some reason. In case someone is interested to know more, I've posted details about it in Ariadne thread. Thank you very much for your help in advance.
