Headphone Check

Category

Description of App

Quickly check your headphones are on the right way round – without having to remove them!

Simple, quick, and easy to use + free.

Imagine the situation: you’ve just put your headphones on and turned the light out to go to sleep. Or you’ve just set off walking somewhere with your coat and hat on.

How can you quickly and easily check you’ve put your headphones on correctly? Simply start this app and tap the appropriate speaker on screen to play a left or right test message.

Already playing other music/audio? It will be paused when the app opens. You can also darken the screen if it’s too bright.

With thanks to Mike Itashiki, of www.itashiki.com for the test message narration.

Accessibility Comments

this app is very simple to use, the buttons for testing the channels don't have labels but to be honest you don't really need them, you can't get lost in this app and tapping on the buttons tells you which channel they are for. Obviously the screen brightness slider is no use to us. There are adverts at the bottom of the screen but they are not annoying. There isn't much else to say about this app.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

No buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some minor accessibility issues with this app, but they are easy to deal with.

Other Comments

I find this particularly useful with in ear headphones as although some do have easy ways to tell right and left apart not all do so useful for these headphones. One other thing to say is that once installed the app name isn't headphone check, for some reason on the home screen the app is called L or R Check, note though that the app in the appstore is called headphone check though.

I was saddened to find that the app is not available in the whole of Europe and specifically in Greece where I am.
If there is any way to contact the developer, please leave a comment.
Thanks.
