Accessibility Comments

The great guys at Hurricane Electric report that the one significant accessibility problem this app has will be fixed in the next version, and it has a simple workaround: on the RIR stats page, graphics which have no label and are skipped by VoiceOver represent each regional registry. These are in alphabetical order, as follows, for each percentage of free space and number of /24 blocks: AfriNIC (Africa), APNIC (Asia-Pacific region), ARIN (North America), LACNIC (Latin & Caribbean) and the Ripe NCC (Europe). They even think they can make it pronounce them correctly. :-)

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.

Other Comments

You can get the same information at http://ipv6.he.net/statistics/ , online and in other forms, including extremely accessible Dashboard widget for OS X. Check out http://www.tunnelbroker.net/ for their tunnels. The source data is the well-respected countdown from Jeff Huston at http://www.potaroo.net/ , the IANA v4 allocation registry, etc. There is a long list of links in the app itself. There is also a wealth of information out there on the Internet, and just as much in the press, about IPv6 itself in general, including the Hurricane Electric IPv6 site at http://ipv6.he.net/ . Certainly, if you want this app, you probably have or want some idea of what it's for, and are quite passionate about the protocol. As of just now, we're about a day from the great regional handout, so find yourself a tin hat quick! :-)
