Accessibility Comments

* Highlight area in map needs to be VoiceOVer accessible to blind people, so doesn't require sighted assistance to determine valid pick-up/drop-off location.
* Needs to be possible to see destination and allow changing in app, as a sighted person set one destination, and we didn't know where we were going.
* All functionality available in Zoox touchscreen needs to be in app for VoiceOVer accessibility for blind people, such as: closing door, start ride, music, climate, and opening doors.
* App needs to have WayFinding to provide textual direction and distance to Zoox pick-up and honk to have it play a sound, so blind person can find vehicle on own.
* Need for blind: In-car notification: Descriptive audio , Includes all messages and also provides extra ride info like street names and where to find controls
* Searching for "BART" in SF needs to specify name of BART station, so it's not just a listing of "BART" with random distances.
* Zoox should have voice command, so it's possible to say: "Zoox, close door, start ride, play music, change volume, set temperature, make it warmer, open doors, etc.".

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads a few page elements.

Button Labeling

Few buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

Some parts of the app are accessible with VoiceOver, but not enough to make it usable.

Other Comments

I'm blind, super excited and passionate about AV self-driving cars. I was amongst the early adopters of WayMo and Tesla RoboTaxi. Late last year, a friend who I took her and her 2YO daughter on non-zoom AV wanted me to take them on Zoox, so we took public transit from Oakland > SF, attempted to request Zoox in November, but found out it wasn't generally available to public, so I figured out how to get on waiting list as an early adopter, which after 3-months, last Thursday, I got approved, and told them we can go try Zoox. The center of gravity for this experience was having my friends 3YO daughter try it, which I hyped her up about, she was so excited/happy of requesting, walking to pick-up, waiting for Zoox, seeing it approach, hearing it ask to open door in app, me opening door, she was so curious about how to buckle her seat, and that's where the fun stopped--Zoox staff connected remotely and said that there was a 8YO age requirement, so my friend and her 3YO daughter sadly and disappointing had to get out of the Zoox. I then tried Zoox again on Saturday with 3x friends with varying disabilities and ethnicity, where we took 7x rides, and I've some detailed feedback below that can make the Zoox experience inclusive, accessible,; and more usable for all.
