It's simply a bug, not something to get used to.
It takes an extra and unnecessary swipe for each message, but even more annoying scrolling back is very buggy.
Hopefully an update arrives soon.

There is no beta test as far as I'm aware. I'd say get used to it for the next few months, as that's how long it takes them to update anything now a days.

And that took several months as it always takes them to fix anything now adays. Woww'ww'ww'ww! That was a pretty quick several months. Enough said.

So, I was trying to use the in-app camera and I couldn’t switch to the non-selfie camera. And, it just kept saying what was in the photo so that I couldn’t conveniently access any of the controls. Any fixes for this?

Using current version of WhatsApp. To link WhatsApp on iPhone to WhatsApp on PC, iPhone has to read a QR code on the screen of the PC. Is there a way to do this with VO? Tired of waving my iPhone around in front of the screen hoping it will see something I can't. :) Thanks.

Now, I'm not saying I'm complaining about this, but I have found a small quirk in WhatsApp that I'm curious about. I have an iPhone SE 3, which sports some pretty annoying braille bugs regarding text fields in IOS 16. Now, I'm often forgetting about these bugs, so I'll try in vain to select text on my iPhone, or press the enter key without pressing option first, or forget that I need to press send, for example, in Google Chat, where there's not really any VO feedback that a message has been sent, and then spending forever trying to delete it. Then, I'll turn over to my iPad, and I'll be, say, writing a text and then I'll move focus to the send button and select it, when I can simply press new line, or fumble around with the edit actions in the rotor to select all. What a waste of time! Now, in WhatsApp, I have been finding that these bugs don't apply. If I'm writing a text in WhatsApp, selecting text and copy/paste/cut works as expected, and I can press the enter key to send it. It doesn't do this with any other app. Has anybody else seen this? If so, do we know why, and can I do this with other apps by changing certain settings, or is this app-specific? If so, three cheers to the developers for working around this!

I tried telegram recently, but I could never get used to the layout of the application. I actually prefer WhatsApp, and nobody who I know uses telegram, anyway. The only thing that I don't like is that we have to give out our phone numbers. I don't know why there isn't an alternative way, like an email address, or a specialized code, that could be given out instead. Sometimes, you give out your number, and then you stop talking to the person, and they call or text you straight, and, yeah, I could block them on WhatsApp, as well as block them directly from contacting me, but I've had instances where people gave out my number to their friends or people I don't want to hear from, or tried calling me from other numbers when I made it perfectly clear that I wanted nothing to do with them. It's hard to escape that fact since this application is very popular in the Caribbean region for school, work, and personal use. Once people have your number, they can instantly find you on the application. You can't hide your profile. If they message you, they know that you're on WhatsApp. It's unavoidable. You don't have to text them back, but they already know that you're using the app. I don't like that. If you get added to a group, everyone in the group, whether you know them or not, has access to your number. That's not right. I don't think they will ever change it, despite how many times I've asked for that feature.
