*Skype to Skype calls are free. Operator data charges may apply. We recommend using an unlimited data plan or WiFi connection.

Call landline and mobile phone numbers and send SMS messages anywhere in the world at affordable prices using Skype. Reach non-Skype users or contacts who are not online by choosing Skype Credit or Skype subscriptions.

Choose Skype Credit as a pay-as-you-go option to call and SMS. If you call specific destinations, save even more with monthly subscriptions. Skype subscriptions are monthly calling plans that let you make unlimited, or fixed-minute calls to landlines (and mobiles where applicable). Subscriptions begin at $2.99 a month for US, and can vary by destination. To make an in-app purchase, open the app, go to the Call tab, and tap on the Skype to Phone banner. Skype Credit and Subscriptions purchased from the Skype app will be charged to your iTunes account when the purchase is confirmed.

Your account will be charged for Skype subscription renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Your subscription is renewed automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period of subscription.

You can manage your subscription by going to your Apple ID account settings and choosing the auto-renewal option or turning it off any time after your purchase.

I can confirm, all of the buttons in the call screen have been labeled with emoji, except for the show chat, and end call buttons. those are correctly labeled. The button that forces Skype into speaker mode has no label at all. This is extremely confusing.

Sadly, this release creates some VoiceOver issues. Ironically as mentioned in the What's New is that they had improved some issues but as you will now see when making a call. The Speaker button is now Unlabeled. Plus, there is a button that says "Pedestiran" in reality it is where the Add Participate to the Call used to be. If anyone else notice other quirks with the new release. Please be sure to include them with your Comment.

i'd like to point out, that those buttons being unlabled, is not new to this version. it's been in there for at least a version before this new one.

A bit of a survey-like question, but do you prefer to make calls through Skype on your computer or using the iPhone app?

I just posted this as a user accessibility rating:

Version 8.1 has a couple of annoying issues, some more so than others.

- Minor: All the rotor actions are gone.
- Minor: The flicking order is a little broken, the messages appear passed the edit box and buttons to attach various media.
- Minor: VoiceOver doesn't announce the online status of a contact, though this may very well be a visual change seeing Microsoft is trying to snapchatify Skype and make it more like your typical Mobile first Messaging app.

- Major: Although VoiceOver does see the text field to send a chat, so you can bring up the keyboard and chat, it does not identify it as a text field nore track the cursor. So every time you press a key, you will just get the boundary sound, and you can't review the text. This probably also causes it not to appear in Braille though I haven't tried using Skype with a display.
- Major: There are a lot of unlabeled controls on the my profile screen.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not going to update I hope they fix these issues soon.

The accessibility issues I described earlier were just fixed. Keep in mind the interface is still a huge departure and there are features that have been moved around or removed (IE you can't change your status other than toggling do not disturb or filter contacts. However these aren't related to accessibility. One definite positive improvement is the app feels a bit more responsive than it used to in large conversations which is a welcome improvement.

I just downloaded the latest version, and the actions rotor still doesn't show up for me. Running the app on the latest build of iOS on an iPhone SE.

I find on the latest version severe keyboard sluggishness with VoiceOver. I have a 5C. Others, particularly with older iPhone models, finding this?
