Accessibility Comments

The actual content of this app seems to be fully accessible, but the interface and controls do have some issues.

Each verse number is announced as a link, and when you double-tap on this a menu containing a number of options is displayed on screen. Unfortunately you need to tap directly on this for VoiceOver to switch its focus away from the verse. Thankfully, the menu takes up a large part of the screen, so this is fairly easy. Once you have focus on the menu you are able to navigate by flicking.

At the top of most pages is a button labelled 'arrow down'. When you double-tap on this it slides a row of buttons into view near the top of the page. The button label now changes to arrow up, and double-tapping will now slide the menu bar back out of sight.

The main navigation controls are in a bar at the bottom of most pages. Once you start reading a verse, these slide out of view. To bring them back, you need to double-tap when VoiceOver focus in on a non-active page element (such as a block of text). You will need to physically locate the bottom menu bar with your finger for VoiceOver to switch focus onto it.

If you can tolerate these quirks (and probably a few others that I haven't yet found) you might find this a usable Bible study resource.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.
