Accessibility Comments

Love it! It's not just the button labeling and the easy navigation, it's just what the developer might of thought of. This app is totally accessible and works very perfectly with VoiceOver.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.

Other Comments

I recommend this app to all blind and visually impaired users. I've been using it ever since September 2015! :)

Could you make MP3 Recordings on this aps?

Yes. Go to the More Tab and you should see a setting called Record Type or something. Don't worry it's easy to do. You can find it with VoiceOver very easily. You can also record in AIF and all types of other formats. The default recording type is M4a.

I just downloaded this app. There is no option for mp3 recording in it. I can see aiff, wav and m4a. that's it.

First of all, I also downloaded the app and did not see MP3 as one of the options (although there were several other formats available).

Also, your review indicatindicates that all of the buttons are labeled. Although most of them are, I didn't see the "Back" button as being labeled in any of the dialogs. Also, when navigating the tabs at the bottom, there seem to be two buttons or tabs for each tab. Accessible, but it does act a bit strangely with VoiceOver.

The biggest problem I had trying to use this app was when recording. I managed to hit the record button and VoiceOver became so quiet (almost inaudible) that I had extreme difficulty finding the stop button. I actually had to reboot my iPhone to get the volume back up to a level where I could hear it again. I guess when recording the phone volume goes down to minimal. That makes it very difficult to navigate.

I think this app needs a bit more work but seems like it could be really nice to use.

BTW, I also had some difficulty editing the names of recordings. Somehow it didn't seem very straightforward. I think one of the problems is that when selecting a recording to rename, move, ore delete, you can't tell which of the recordings are highlighted using VoiceOver.

So, in all, I would say, needs a bit more work but is useable if you're willing to put up with some of this.

HoepfHopefully some of these issues can be addressed in a future update so that it is easier to use with voiceOver.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention though.

After some playing around with the app for a short time. I must agree in what others have mentioned. There are some VoiceOver issues with this app and I have made changes to the accessibility rating for this app. There are buttons that are not labeled in some areas. Along with other areas that are a bit difficult to use as like the recording for example. If one were to use touch explore along the bottom of the screen. One would find a number of tabs that are labeled as tabs. You would have to swipe left and right to determine what those tabs are for. There are also of number of other issues but it does have potential. Will be very much be looking forward to this app if and when the developer make improvements for VoiceOver users.

First: Button Labeling
You can easily label the buttons manually by double tapping and holding with two fingers, waiting for the sound, then put in your label.
Example:
btn sssd can be easily labeled or changed.
Second: VoiceOver Problems
First let me make myself clear. Refreshabraille users out there may have more luck than just VoiceOver users navigating to press the Stop button. You can also turn off VO and tap at the bottom of the screen to record. Also, before recording, use VoiceOver and scroll over to the Stop button, like one of the users mentioned. Tap the screen with three fingers to locate where the stop button so that if you want to stop the recording but VO is silent you can. Also locate the Done button so you also know. Then you're done! Simply turn off VO and start to record, then using your memory in locating the Stop/Done button, you'll be fine.

Sorry about the users who didn't see MP3. There is only WAV, AIFF, M4a and others in the Audio Format setting. Sorry for the users who weren't getting how to use this app. But don't worry my friends. I will find other recording apps out there and submit then to the iOS App Directory as soon as I can.

Another recording app that I've tried which seems to be very accessible with VoiceOver is called DropVox.

The downside to this app is that you can't listen to the recordings until you upload them to your DropBox account. the interface and functionality was made to be as simple as possible, so there are some things you just can't do.

But if you want something simple with good accessibility this could work for some folks.

Ok. I've downloaded the app before but don't like it, but I will still try to post it to the directory if it isn't there already.

I also use audio share. That is in the directory already and I love it. You cannot batch convert like you can with ht recorder but it still works quite good. I use it in combination with transmit to upload all of my recording to my home computer when I get home.
